Weather Wins Out At MIS
by John Wells

Thursday, May 11, 2006 (Oregon, WI) - Despite all of the advanced planning and the excitement that had built up for this weekend's racing events at Madison International Speedway,  Mother Nature decided to have a say and with cold temperatures and rain predicted, speedway officials have cancelled both the Friday and Saturday night programs.

"We wanted to let the drivers know ahead of time instead of having them come all the way to the track.  We regret any inconveniences this may cause our drivers or fans, but the conditions that are predicted just don't lend themselves well to racing," said MIS promoter Steve Einhaus.

This was to have been a big weekend for the speedway following a very successful Miller Classic season opener last Sunday.  Friday night was scheduled to be the weekly season opener for all five divisions with Saturday night being the first of two "Night of Destruction" events.

The Night of Destruction events have been rescheduled for Saturday night, July 22.  "This is going to be a great show and we are expecting a very large crowd.  Unfortunately, we are going to have to ask our fans to wait until July to experience this event that they will never forget," added Einhaus.

Racing at Madison International Speedway continue on Friday, May 19 with the Weaver Auto Parts ASA Late Models, Rockweiler Insulation Limited Late Models, Bryden Motors Area Sportsman, Club LaMark Hobby Stocks, and the Roto Rooter Bandits all in action. Gates open at 5:00 with qualifying at 6:45 and racing at 7:30.
