Week of May 8, 2006
by John Wells
Attention Drivers...Important Information
Transponders are in! Those that still need to order a transponder need to
notify Steve Einhaus asap so he can get it to you.
"These guys are waiting until the last minute and they need 14 hrs of
precharge for the rechargable units. We'll do what we can to get everything
prepared for them but if they don't have a unit in their cars, they may miss
the show on Friday. I expect a very high car count this Friday and I only have
15 units handed out," noted Einhaus.
Please visit the track this week to pick up your transponder or call Steve to
confirm. 630-212-6022.
Special Thanks from Steve- "Dave Grueneberg and I would like to give all
of the Bandit Drivers who attended our opener a special thanks for working
through our initial payoff problem. The problem has been solved and the new
payouts are posted online. As far as I am concerned these guys are no
different then my late model guys so we are very open to their suggestions on
improving the division. I am glad they came to us on the first night so we can
settle things right away and get back on track," stated Einhaus.
"Dave and I are very open to listening and we want everyone to leave here
satisfied."
Einhaus continued by saying, "We do expect higher car counts for the
opener and we encourage everyone to try and get to the track as soon as
possible. We want the first show on Friday to be on time and well run. I am
asking all of our drivers to be as helpful as possible to make sure our opener
goes off as scheduled."
Registrations- You have until the 3rd week to get all of the paper work needed
to register for our 2006 season.
Miller Classic 100 is a Classic Day at MIS
Wow! What an awesome turnout of cars for our season opener with nearly 120
cars in the pits. This is one of the largest one day turnouts in recent memory
with nearly one hundred super and limited late models and twenty bandits on
hand for a full day of racing.
When all was said and done it was Dave Feiler, a former track champion at MIS,
taking home top honors in the Miller Classic 100 for the WCS. Feiler proved
that patience pays off as he worked his way through the field and waited for
leader Kenny Richards to drift up the track coming out of turn two and the
rest was history as the Sun Prairie driver cruised to victory.
Shortly after the competition yellow, a front stretch melee occurred when Dean
Cornelius and Andrew Morrissey spun leaving nowhere to go for the third and
fourth place cars of Steve Rubeck and Jeff Kendall. Rubeck made hard contact
to the front stretch wall and wound up on his roof. Of the top four only
Cornelius and Kendall would be able to continue. It's not too often when you
lose the top four in a single incident!
As I predicted at the beginning of qualifying it would take a sub-eighteen
second lap to make the top sixteen. As it turned out the bubble time was a
very quick 17.765. This sent a very talented group of drivers to the
qualifying races of which there would be three.
You can check out the entire race report on our website.
Jeremy Miller of Rockton, Illinois, pulled double duty and found more success
in the Big Eight Series by winning their thirty-eight lap feature. Ricky
Bilderback would finish second with local favorite Brady Liddle compelting a
strong run and winding up in the third position.
The Roto Rooter Bandits made their 2006 debut which marked the first ever race
on the newly constructed quarter mile. Young Tyler Kelley of Oregon made
history as he won the first heat race ever and topped it off with the first
feature win on the quarter mile. We had twenty Bandits in the pits and they
put on a super show! What a thrilling finish too as Kelley edged out Brandon
"Bud" Riedner by inches at the line.
We are hoping to see the Bandits increase in numbers each week. This week they
will be in action on both Friday and Saturday nights.
Season Opener Features Many Changes
Sunday's race brought many new changes to Madison International Speedway
including the debut of Jeff Lockridge and Scotty Ernst as track announcers.
These guys are two of the hardest working guys you'll find as I spent many
hours with them this weekend and last preparing for the opener.
"Lock" has one of the most unique voices you'll ever hear and Scotty
already has a full notebook of driver profiles ready to share. They are going
to be a fun duo to listen to this summer.
Thanks to Jim Naumann and Competition Race Technology, we will be offering in
car interviews during caution flags this year. This is a new feature at MIS
that we think you are going to enjoy. Please understand that we are still
working out some of the glitches and we will only have access to a certain
number of drivers per night.
Open Practice on Quarter Mile Set for Wednesday Night
All Area Sportsman, Hobby Stock, and Bandit drivers are invited to an open
practice session on the quarter mile this Wednesday night from 4-8. We thank
you for your patience and hope you can come out and test the new track this
Wednesday.

Night of Destruction Comes to MIS
Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 13 when the Night of Destruction comes
to MIS.
Here's what you can expect to see:
Nationally known Stuntman Tommy "Trubble" Mctague blast through a
wall of fire at over 50ft in the air and at 55mph while smashing into a field
of cars.

literally blows himself up inside of a normal everyday car and walks away
unscathed.
The Monster Truck "Chicago Outlaw as he smashes everything in his
way.
The world's largest Jet Engine "Outhouse."
The world's largest and fastest Jet Engine Tow Truck.

two special events for them during the month of May.

The MIS Website...It's Incredible
Sure, we're a little biased. But it's no secret that the Madison International
Speedway website designed by Scott Lofquist at Advantage Motorsports Marketing
is one of the best around. If you haven't checked it out yet you don't know
what you're missing. Scott is incredibly talented and has worked hard to meet
all of our needs. If you would like to see what he could do for your race
team, contact him by email.
Speaking of websites, please check out autoracingtracks.com for all of your

Put a Video Camera in Your Car
I watched Jake Roth of Miracle Video install a video camera in the #93 ASA
Late Model of Zack Riddle on Saturday. It's amazing how small the camera is
and how easily it can be installed. Jake has cameras available for rent. Email
us if you are interested in having a camera in your car.
Driver Profile: Ryan Goldade- Area Sportsman
Ryan Goldade began his racing career working on his father's sportsman car. At
the age of fourteen he got his first taste of racing when he took some hot
laps at the Jefferson Speedway. He continued doing this for four years before
his racing career began at the age of eighteen.
In 2003 he officially began his career racing at Jefferson in the Sportsman
division driving for STAR Racing. "Along with guidance from his father
and his fellow competitors, Ryan got more than enough advice and
encouragement." His first car was a car that Tod Goldade and Wayne
Whitford had built thirteen years prior to his racing it. Making it truly a
family affair, Ryan recruited his older brother TJ and cousin Bryce to be on
his pit crew. His first season found him winning two heats, one top five
finish, three top tens, and finished eighteenth in points overall despite two
dnfs.
With Tod retiring from racing in 2004, Ryan would take over his car. Ryan
wasted no time repaying Tod for the excellent equipment when he proceeded to
set a new track record at Jefferson on opening night. Opening night was a sign
of things to come when Ryan would finish the season qualifying in the top ten
each night, winning a fast dash, a heat, and his first-ever feature. He also
garnered seven top five and twelve top ten finishes enroute to finishing fifth
in points. Ryan proved that consistency pays off as he did not suffer any dnfs
for the year and topped it all off with a fifth place finish in the very
competitive Wisconsin State Championships.
The 2005 season started off just like the previous year with Ryan once again
setting a new track record on opening night. It was on this night that he also
achieved what he feels is still his racing highlight when he beat his mentor,
Scott Riedner to the line on the last lap with a last corner pass.
Unfortunately, Ryan's luck suffered due to a series of disappointments and
mechanical problems and changes had to be made.
Ryan made a major decision by choosing to come to race at Madison
International Speedway and gain more exposure for his racing career. His first
week brought less than stellar results with yet another mechanical failure.
Things would be better the next week the Goldade team decided. When qualifying
the next week didn't go well it looked like more disappointment. However, Ryan
proceeded to go out and win his heat and the feature! When the 2005 season was
over he had taken home two feature wins, seven top fives, and eight top tens
in nine starts and finished sixth in points.
STAR Racing's 2006 goal is to win a championship at Madison International
Speedway. "We will try to compile as many top five and top ten finishes
as possible and hopefully a couple of feature wins.
Ryan's car owners are Tod and Terri Goldade. Crew chief is TJ Goldade with Tod
Goldade, Rob Nordness, Bryce Hanson, and Adam Gordee comprising the crew.
Sponsors include Stoughton Tire and Auto Repair, Eastside Concrete, STAR
Packaging, Rick's Lawn and Garden, Ron's Body and Welding, Jr's Custom Paint
and Design, Stoughton Hairstyling, B&B Engine Rebuilders, Schroeder and
Associates Insurance Agency, Judd's Radiator, Bumper to Bumper of Stoughton,
and Stoughton Screen Printing and Embroidery.
Drivers...We Want to Promote You!!
Thanks to the many teams who have provided me with profiles. We at MIS are
committed to promoting your race team in any way possible. Send us your
information or bring it to the track on race night.
Chaplain's Corner by Todd Christopherson
IT"S HERE!!! The sound of the motor, smells of tires, oils.... I don't
know about you but I really look forward to this time of year. The excitement
of the year of racing, to see all the racing friends, who will win races, who
will win for the first time, who will win championships who will be the
"new kid on the block", who will be rookie of the year, all big :)
and who will tear up equipment :(.
I look forward a few things a little more then the race season. Spending time
with my wife and kids but there is one I look forward to even more. That is
the Lord. Every morning I start with prayer and reading His Word. I hope you
do too.Check out Deuteronomy 6-12 and Joshua 1:8. I really look forward to
that time each day, but the day I look forward to even more, is the day I/we
get to be with Him. Either in His second coming or me going to Him.
So as we start this new season and the excitement of it take a minute a see if
you are that excited about meeting the Lord daily and eternally. See you soon
and if there is anything I can help with, just pull me to the side. Need
prayer, let me know by email and have a great day racin' in the SONshine.
That's all for this week. See you at the races this Friday and Saturday night.
