MIS E-News
February 2006
by John Wells

Ladies and Gentlemen...Start Your Engines!!!
Hopefully you are as excited about the start of the racing season as we are here at MIS. The first on-track action at MIS is scheduled for Saturday, April 29 with an open practice session scheduled from noon until 5:00 PM.

Drivers- Email us with your plans for 2006
It's going to be a great season at Madison International Speedway with all of the exciting changes. Just look at some of the changes:

The addition of the new quarter mile will open up so many more opportunities for area drivers to race at MIS. The hobby stocks and bandits will feature good car counts in 2006.

There will be a plethora of changes around the speedway including a new front stretch wall and improvements to the concession areas.

Regular Friday night racing will begin at 7:30. This will allow us to keep the show moving and get everyone home by 10:30.

We will be looking at a new qualifying format in 2006. Sometimes change is difficult, but we think you will like the new format.

The 2006 season will also find a new announcing duo in the booth. More on this in an upcoming E-News.

Special events including novelty races will be featured each night.

And the list goes on and on...

Fans...Purchase Your Tickets On-Line
Fans of Madison International Speedway are reminded that you can go to our website and purchase your tickets in advance. Simply go to www.madisoninternationalspeedway.com for more information. If you are interested in purchasing tickets for the big RK Race Promotions show on June 27 featuring Matt Kenseth and Tony Stewart, we have a link for you as well.

MIS Welcomes Star Packaging
All of us at Madison International Speedway are pleased to announce that Star Packaging will be sponsoring several events throughout the 2006 racing season.

Allen Petrie of Star Packaging is no stranger to local racing when it comes to his support for the sport. From sponsoring as many as thirty local drivers to being a nightly sponsor at several area tracks, Petrie has demonstrated a true commitment to local racing.

"I know racing is a very expensive sport and I try to help out best I can. I always want to help out the drivers because they are the ones who put on the show," noted Petrie.

For those of you who may be unfamiliar with Star Packaging, they began as a small in home business back in 1985 involved in small blister packaging, poly-bagging, and general shop work all produced in a garage. The popularity of the business due to their outstanding customer service and on-time delivery quickly took off thus making it necessary for them to relocate to a new production facility in 1987. A short three years later found more expansion and in 1996 a move to a larger faciltiy became necessary. Their current service line includes hand assembly, shrink wrapping, skin packing, autobagging, hand collating, high speed labeling, padding, and point of purchase / prototype display packaging and much, much more.

Madison International Speedway would like to thank Allen Petrie and Star Packaging for their commitment to MIS in 2006. "We are looking forward to MIS in 2006," concluded Petrie.

Attention Drivers: A Suite Deal for Early Registration
To avoid long lines on the opening weekend or opening night, we are encouraging all drivers and crew members to pre-register for the 2006 racing season. We have simplified the process by putting everything you need on our website...membership, point fund, pit stall forms, etc. What's even better is that you can pay on-line as well.

All drivers and crew members who register before April 1 will be eligible to win one of our VIP suites for a night not including tickets. What a great opportunity to treat your sponsors, friends, and family to the air conditioned comforts of a VIP suite.

Don't hesitate...register now!

Registrations Keep Coming
We are happy to announce that we have many early registrations for the 2006 season in all five divisions. We have Madison ASA Late Model drivers entered from as far away as the Chicago area and all the way to the Twin Cities.

Attention ASA Late Model Teams: We Need Your Feedback
Race Safe System- The Race Safe System is a radio transmitted system that puts a light on your dashboard that will immediately flash when a caution flag is thrown. This would be an additional way of notifying drivers of a caution ahead and hopefully helping avoid any unnecessary damage.

MIS has considered the Race Safe System for the ASALM Division for our weekly events. "I have put some thought to it because it's such a good system to save a lot of cars from being damaged. It's a $300 investment and one avoided incident could pay for the system, but I am not sold on forcing anyone to purchase it", said Steve Einhaus.

"I'd like some input from the drivers to see if all of them would consider using the system so I encourage everyone to call or email me with their thoughts. Anyone who competes in an ASALM Series event has to have the system so a lot of our competitors already have it in place. But, it's those who don't have the budget that I am worried about. I won't make any decisions until I hear from everyone in the ASALM Division," added Einhaus.

Attention Limited Late Model Drivers
Wayne Forsythe of Wayne's Custom DIECAST will be sponsoring his dash series and hard charger program for you in 2006. You need to email Wayne if you are planning on running at MIS in 2006. We are very happy to have Wayne working with us in 2006. If you are ever looking for a diecast replica of your car then he's the guy to talk to...a true artist of the diecast business!

MIS at Pinewood Derby in McFarland
Madison International Speedway was on hand at the annual Pinewood Derby in McFarland handing out water bottles to all of the competitors.

A special thank you goes out to Jon Minor and Carey Hensel for offering to bring their cars to put on display. Unfortunately the 30 below wind chills put an end to any hope of having the kids get to see real race cars up close.

2006 MIS Yearbook Contributors Wanted
Want to write an article for the 2006 MIS Yearbook? Submit your ideas to John Wells at mcfjdw@yahoo.com.  We are looking for human interest stories, historical perspectives, etc. We have a couple of stories already in the works thanks to some suggestions we have already received.

We are planning to include head shot pictures of all of the drivers this year so be prepared to get your picture taken on opening weekend.

Novelty Events and Night Promotions
We have several novelty events in the works for the 2006 racing season thanks to the addition of the quarter mile. These include gauntlet style races, spectator events, and All Faiths Night featuring the "Faster Pastor" race. This will add a little more excitement to an already exciting evening of racing.

But we can use your help too! We are looking for ideas for nightly contests and special promotions. Email us with your ideas.

Chaplain's Corner
by Todd Christopherson

It was good to see everyone at the the banquet. I am looking forward to the new season and I am sure you are too!

As I think about the new season I think of the excitement of the new cars, drivers, teams that will be racing at MIS and the fans they will bring with them. I think of the fun of a new (of course better and faster) motor. Think of the excitement of a new sponsor! And in your case a new track being built and raced on, new classes and some old ones returning (LLM). Best of all new points...Everyone starts at zero again.

As I think of all these NEW things and the excitement of a NEW year, season, I am reminded that God want each of us to be a NEW creation (2 Corinthians 5:17.) Think about the points for a second. We go to zero, cleaned up. In Psalm 51 it talks a being cleaned up white as snow. But the Bible is clear that it is only in Jesus Christ our Lord that this NEW creation (salvation) happens (John 14:7 and Romans 10:9,10) So I hope as we get ready to start the NEW season that you are a NEW creation, preparing for heaven, the true winners circle.

If I can help, you can get a hold of me @ 608-846-8493 or torch_for_jesus@yahoo.com  or of course at the track on Friday night in a few more weeks!

One more thing, I would like the opportunity to pray with any drivers, teams, ... this year, so when you see me just pull me aside. Thanks for going fast and allowing us to have so much fun.
