Kimmel Ready For Milwaukee Mile

TOLEDO OH (8-4-06)—With close to 70 career wins in the ARCA RE/MAX Series, it’s safe to say that Frank Kimmel knows a thing or two about winning. So naturally, the seven-time and defending Series champion is ready and willing to make the trip to the Milwaukee Mile for the Governor’s Cup 200 on Sunday, August 27th, 2006, where he hopes to put his No. 46 Pork the Other White Meat Ford into victory lane.

In 2005, Kimmel captured his career first Milwaukee win over Joey Miller, Chad Blount, Erik Darnell and Bobby Gerhart. Now Kimmel is looking to put himself back in the winner’s circle at the 1-mile paved oval.

Kimmel, a native of Southern Indiana, has rewritten the record books during his tenure with ARCA. In addition to his record seven national driving championships, Kimmel is second on the all-time winners list, trailing only the legendary Iggy Katona. He is the Series’ all-time superspeedway Pork Pole Award winner and leads the all-time superspeedway lap leader list as well.

This year, Kimmel was selected to compete in the Crown Royal IROC Series, becoming the only ARCA driver in series history to earn the prestigious honor. Kimmel is one of a dozen champions competing in the all-star IROC line-up, which includes drivers such as Tony Stewart, Max Papis, Scott Sharp and Steve Kinser.

But on August 27th, Kimmel’s sole focus will be on Milwaukee, where the crafty veteran will make an attempt to join Tony Bettenhausen, Sr. and Fred Lorenzen as the track’s only repeat winners in ARCA competition.

A field of up to 41 cars is set to join Kimmel in taking the green flag at 3 p.m., including four time Daytona ARCA 200 winner Bobby Gerhart, and veterans Todd Bowsher, Damon Lusk and Brent Sherman.

Tickets to the Governor’s Cup 200 are available by calling (414) 453-8277 or visiting www.milwaukeemile.com
