Milwaukee Mile 2006 Schedule, Ticket Prices Announced
No ticket price increases at America’s Legendary Oval
WEST ALLIS, Wis. – On the day Wisconsin State Fair Park announced the new
promoter of The Milwaukee Mile motor speedway, incoming President & CEO
Andy Randall announced there will be no increase in ticket prices at the
historic oval this coming season.
“In an effort to make racing more affordable to all fans, there will be no
ticket price increases in 2006,” Randall said. “In fact, in almost
every instance, we have reduced ticket prices so that people can again come
out and experience the thrilling environment at The Mile.”
The 2006 Milwaukee Mile season schedule was also announced by Randall, who
joined Milwaukee Mile Chairman Craig Stoehr and Wisconsin State Fair Park
Board Chairman Martin Greenberg in a special ceremony held today at which the
promoter rights were signed over before a crowd of supporters, sponsors,
investors and others at the Wisconsin State Fair Park Exposition Center.
Under the terms of the agreement, Milwaukee Mile Holdings has acquired the
promotional rights at The Mile for 18 years.
“The Milwaukee Mile is the oldest continuously operating motor speedway in
the world, and it is the only track to host races sanctioned by the three
major U.S. race sanctioning bodies: Champ Car, IRL, and NASCAR,”
Randall said. “In addition, our Governor’s Cup weekend will return
in August, and this season will be headlined by the ARCA RE/MAX 200.”
Four major event weekends will greet the loyal Milwaukee Mile fans, with the
June 2-4 Champ Car World Series weekend kicking-off the century-old tradition
of world-class auto racing at America’s Legendary Oval, which dates back to
1903.
Paul Tracy and the high-speed Champ Car contingent will make their only 2006
appearance on an oval track, with a return to a Sunday afternoon event June 4
in the Time Warner Cable Road Runner 225. For the first time at
The Mile, the emerging Star Mazda Series joins Champ Car for an all-open wheel
weekend.
The wildly popular NASCAR Busch and Craftsman Truck Series return to The Mile
for night racing once again. The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Toyota
Tundra Milwaukee 200 will run Friday night, June 23. It is expected that
NASCAR superstar Carl Edwards and at least three additional NASCAR Nextel Cup
Series drivers will compete in the AT&T 250 NASCAR Busch Series race on
Saturday night, June 24.
The stars of the Indy 500 – including Wisconsin-born ‘Rookie Driver of the
Year’ Danica Patrick – return to The Mile in the ABC Supply / A.J. Foyt
225 IRL IndyCar Series thriller. Pole qualifying, IRL Indy Pro Series
and USAC National Midget Series events headline Saturday July 22, with the
IndyCar Series race and a 100-mile USAC Silver Crown Series race set for
Sunday July 23.
Stock car fans are going to enjoy The Mile’s storied Governor’s Cup
weekend, according to Randall. The Sunday afternoon August 27 headliner
will be a 200-mile ARCA RE/MAX Series race. The debut of the ASA Late
Model Challenge Series in a 150-lap contest is scheduled for Saturday
afternoon, August 26, with the Wisconsin Challenge Series and grass roots
Governor’s Cup division races completing nearly 500 miles of stock car
racing August 25-27.
Race fans can choose from money-saving Milwaukee Mile ticket packages
encompassing all four weekends in a full season ticket package, just the two
open wheel weekends, or can select both NASCAR and ARCA/Governor’s Cup stock
car weekends in a package.
Renewal forms will be mailed in January to existing ticket holders. For
individual ticket pricing and complete details, call (414) 453-8277 or visit
