Kimmel Looks For Milwaukee Win; Chasing Record 7th Series Title
MILWAUKEE WI (6-2-05) On the heels of a 4th place finish at Lanier National
Speedway last weekend, defending series champion Frank Kimmel heads to the
Milwaukee Mile looking to increase his lead in the 2005 ARCA RE/MAX Series
point standings.
The June 4 event marks the first time that Kimmel, a six-time ARCA RE/MAX
Series champion, has ever raced at the 1-mile oval. But for Kimmel, the first
time is often a charm, as he has proved again and again in ARCA RE/MAX Series
competition.
Kimmel has enjoyed tremendous success on racing venues new to the ARCA RE/MAX
Series schedule. He placed first in the ARCA 200 at Lake Erie Speedway in 2003
when the series visited the track for the first time. Kimmel repeated the
performance by winning the ARCA 200 at Lake Erie Speedway in 2004 as well.
In 2001, Kimmel won the first ever Waste Management 200 at Nashville
Superspeedway. He also won at Nashville in 2002.
Kimmel won the BPU 200 at Kansas Speedway the first time that the ARCA RE/MAX
Series visited that venue in 2001, repeating with a win in 2002. Kimmel has
never finished outside of the top five in competition at Kansas.
However, with competition fierce within the ARCA RE/MAX Series garage, there
have been a few instances where Kimmel has finished outside of the top five
while racing at a new ARCA RE/MAX Series venue. In 2001, Kimmel placed sixth
in the ARCA 200 at Chicagoland Speedway. In 2000, the ARCA RE/MAX Series
visited Kentucky Speedway for the first time, where Tim Steele picked up the
victory and Kimmel finished 6th in the event.
Kimmel currently leads the point standings with 1545 points, 40 points ahead
of Joey Miller. Kimmel, the defending ARCA RE/MAX Series champion, has a
record six titles and is looking for his seventh series title.
You can catch the ARCA 150, LIVE on SPEED Channel at the Milwaukee Mile
Saturday afternoon, June 4. Racing starts at 2:30pm local central time.
