ARCA RE/MAX Series Returns To The Milwaukee Mile

MILWAUKEE WI (5-14-05) For the first time in more than 20 years, the ARCA RE/MAX Series will invade the Milwaukee Mile on Saturday, June 4 for 150 miles of stock car auto racing action.

Although the one-mile oval has not seen the fast-paced action of the RE/MAX Series since 1983, the track has had a successful prior history with the 53-year-old sanctioning body.

Dave Weltmeyer claimed the last RE/MAX Series victory at the historic track in 1983. Other past winners include Dean Roper (Aug. ’82), Tony Bettenhausen, Sr., (Aug. ’60 and July ‘59), Fred Lorenzen, (Sept.’59 and Sept. ‘58), and Rodger Ward, (Aug. ’59).

Series veteran Bob Schacht still owns the one-lap track record with a speed of 114.976 mph set on August 28, 1983.

"We're fortunate to have the opportunity to expand into the Milwaukee market at such a class facility as The Milwaukee Mile," said ARCA President Ron Drager. "We're proud of the ARCA RE/MAX Series' rich 53-year history in motorsports, and being able to return to the legendary ‘Mile’ sets up what we hope will become a long-standing traditional annual event."

Optional rig parking will be available on Thursday evening, June 2, with registration, practice and Pork Pole Award Qualifying slated for Friday, June 3. The ARCA 150 kicks off at the Milwaukee Mile at 2:30pm CST, directly after the 12:00pm CST start time of the Time Warner Cable Road Runner 225 presented by U.S. Bank Champ Car race. A complete weekend schedule is available online at www.arcaracing.com

The 150-mile ARCA event is LIVE on SPEED Channel at 3:30pm EST.
