Nowak Grabs Mid-American Spring Classic Win
By: Kevin Ramsell

Sunday, April 02, 2006 (Loves Park, IL) - Lyle Nowak, the veteran driver from Wausau, got his racing season off to a good start by capturing the Mid-American Stock Car Series 50-lap event at the Rockford Speedway.  Nowak captured his first career Mid-American win at the 29th Annual Spring Classic presented by Chicago International Trucks and Yellow Book.

Scott Null jumped to the early lead with Nowak right behind him.  The two veterans pulled away from the field and put on a great two-car battle.  On lap 12, Nowak got on the inside Null and the two battled side-by-side for a lap until Nowak got past for the lead.

Nowak would go on to the win while Johnny Senerchia and Scott Null battled for second.  In the end, it was Senerchia taking home the second spot.

“It’s really special,” Nowak stated about his victory.  “Because we come for years watching Joe Shear, ARTGO and my good friend Steve Carlson.  Its real special to come here and get a win like this.”

The Mid-American Series next race is scheduled for Monday, May 29th at Grundy County Speedway in Morris, IL.

The 59th season of weekly racing begins next Saturday, April 8th with the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series presented by Coca-Cola.  Bring a 20 oz. Coca-Cola product to the track and get $2.00 off your admission.  For advance tickets or more information, please contact the track office at (815) 633-1500 or visit the track’s website at www.rockfordspeedway.com
