Ryan Wins Both Twin 50s At Elko
ELKO, MN -- Jake Ryan, a former regular on the Mid-American Stock Car Series
tour, dominated the ACDelco Suuper Summer Series twin 50s for the Midwest
AllStar Racing Series Saturday night before a packed grandstand at the Elko
Speedway.
Ryan was the quickest qualifier in the 30-car late model field and started
tenth in the first 50-lapper. Ryan quickly sliced through the field and
had the lead by lap 18, winning handily over Donny Reuvers and Dean Cornelius.
In the second 50 Jeff Van Oudenhoven and Jon Lemke battled for the lead early
in the event along with Andy Hanson and Jonathan Eilen. Ryan
started 18th and immediately went to the outer lane where there was virtually
no traffic. Ryan slipped past all the front runners to take the
lead on lap 41.
MARS Series regular Blake Bjorklund had his best Elko Speedway finish ever
with a second followed by Lemke and Hanson.
The next MARS late model event is Saturday night, Aug. 13 at Wisconsin
International Raceway in Kaukauna, WI where the final leg of the Red, White
& Blue State Championship Series will be held. Due to the fact the
first two races were rained out the format for the night will be three 50-lap
late model races along with a 30-lap Mid-American Stock Car Series feature and
25-lap limited late model main. Sizzlin Fours and Figure 8s will also be
included along with preliminary races. Qualifying begins at 5 p.m. with
racing at 7 p.m. on the D-shaped half-mile track.
