Van Der Wal, Larsen Surprise Entries For Saturday's Mid-Am Race At WIR

KAUKAUNA, WI -- Curt Van Der Wal and Josh Larsen are two late surprise entries for Saturday night's Mid-American Stock Car Series 30-lap race at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna.  The Mid-American cars will join the MARS Late Models, FRRC Limited Late Models and Vintage Grand Nationals in action on the half-mile D-shaped paved track with racing to begin at 7 p.m.

All the activity will be part of the 34th annual Red, White & Blue State Championships at WIR.  Figure 8 and Sizzlin 4 cars will race on inner quarter-mile tracks.

Van Der Wal, of Oskaloosa, IA, will drive a 2005 Monte Carlo in the Mid-American division.  He is a two-time Mid-Am style car champion at Hawkeye Downs in Cedar Rapids, IA.  Larsen, of Glencoe, MN, was the 2004 Mid-American Stock Car Series rookie of the year, but has raced only at Elko Speedway in 2005.  Larsen drives a 2004 Ford Taurus.    Van Der Wal has also entered a different car in the ASL 150 race Tuesday night, August 2 at Wisconsin International Raceway.   The ASL 150 will be part of the Tuesday Night Shootout which also includes the B & B Race Engines 44 for late models and the Royal Rumble Mid-American Stock Car vs. Mid-Am Super Truck race.  

The August 2 program begins with qualifying at 4 p.m., autographs at 5 p.m. and racing at 7:15 p.m.
