Red, White & Blue Kicks Off At WIR July 23rd
KAUKAUNA, WI -- The 34th annual Red, White & Blue State Championship for
Midwest AllStar Racing Series late models begins Saturday night, July 23 at
Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna. Time trials begin at
5 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m.
The first race of the series was flooded out due to heavy rain and tornados in
the area on June 11.
Lowell Bennett of Neenah will be the defending champion and faces a strong
field of challengers including MARS Series point leader Dean Cornelius of
Chaska, MN and two-time MARS champion Jeff Van Oudenhoven of Kimberly.
Twin 50-lap late model feature races top the program along with a 30-lap
Mid-American Stock Car Series feature and 25-lap FRRC Limited Late Model
feature. Also included with be a 10-lap Vintage Grand National
Race, 15-lap figure 8 race and a 15-lap Sizzlin 4 race.
Additional preliminary races will be run on the D-shaped half-mile paved oval.
Practice is slated to begin at 3 p.m.
Free overnight camping is offered to traveling race fans. The track is
located at the corner of Highway 55 and County Trunk KK, three miles south of
