Rookie Storlie Shocks Mid-Am Super Truckers

SAUK CENTRE, MN -- A longtime race observer a few years ago saw Mark Storlie race in the Thunder Stock Division at Elko Speedway and had some prophetic words.  "This Storlie guy is the real deal," said the race track official.

Storlie landed a ride in the Mid-Am Super Truck Series early this Spring and much to the surprise of everyone the rookie is leading the point standings after two races.  He finished third in the series opener at I-70 Speedway and had an impressive win Saturday night at Madison International Speedway, beating out the largest field of super trucks ever assembled at the track.

The lanky Elko, MN driver is just happy to have the opportunity to compete in the touring division. "I've got to thank Nic Brewer for the chance to drive his truck," Storlie said.

"I hope the rest of the season goes the way the first two races went," Storlie added.  "My goal was to win the rookie of the year title and now I have a shot at that and the title.  I'll try to make it happen," he said.

Conrad Jorgenson, who himself dominated super truck racing in the Twin Cities area, has help Storlie much in preparing his super trucks for the speedways.

Storlie ran some of the Mid-American Stock Car Series last year.  He ranks leading the Mid-American race at Milwaukee for over half the distance and taking a Mid-Am feature win at Elko Speedway as the highlights of his career.

The next Mid-Am Super Truck event is Sunday night, July 3 at I-94 Raceway in Sauk Centre, MN in conjunction with the American StockCar League (ASL) 150 with qualifying at 5 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m.   The super truck feature will be 50 laps.

Twenty-eight different drivers has compete in the first two series events, a division record for early season racing.
