B & B Race Engines Late Model Shootout August 2 At WIR

KAUKAUNA, WI -- The B & B Race Engines Late Model Shootout has been added to the Tuesday night, Aug. 2 racing program on the D-shaped half-mile paved oval at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna.

The race will be 44 laps and the winner will receive a trophy honoring the late Wally Jors.   Jors ran the number 44 at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna when the Fox River Racing Club first began running weekly Thursday night events.  An annual Wally Jors Classic was held each year at Hales Corners Speedway from Jors' death in 1975 until the track closed several years ago.

"We're honoring an old friend and featuring some of the finest late model drivers from the Midwest in this event," said Mid-American Stock Car, Inc. president Gary Vercauteren.

The top ten drivers in the 2005 Midwest AllStar Series point standings will be invited to the B & B Racing Engines event along with former MARS, Fox River Racing Club and Red, White & Blue Series champions.   Some of the drivers may also be from the American StockCar League (ASL).  The American StockCar League 150 will be the featured event on August 2 and some of the ASL drivers also raceing MARS type late models throughout the nation.

The B & B Racing Engines 44-lap race will be part of the Tuesday Night Shootout which is expected to present five racing divisions on the Kaukauna half-mile all in one night.    The top eight Mid-American Stock Cars will square off against the top eight Mid-Am Super Trucks by point standings in the Royal Rumble 30-lap feature.  The Royal Rumble has previously been run  at Wisconsin International Raceway in 1997 and 1998 with Jeff Storm winning in a Mid-American Stock Car the first year and Danny Heinritz winning in a Mid-Am Super Truck the second year.

Spectator gates will open at 4 p.m. with preliminary races to begin at 7:15 p.m.

One additional division is expected to be added to the program with that announcement anticipated to be made shortly.
