Eve of Destruction Mayhem at Marshfield
By: Sara Johnson
The WDEZ 101.9FM Eve of Destruction, the first of two this season, began the
evening with the bus racing. Chad Krueger was the fastest school bus on
the speedway for qualifying, beating out the other seven buses competing.
Next was a warm up show by X-Treme Motocross Stunt Rider Jason Hammrick.
He started off the evening with some smaller stunts, warming up the crowd for
his second show that followed the burn out contest. His second show he
was able increase the complexity of his stunts, which pleased the crowd even
more as his stunts were bigger and bigger.
The WDEZ DJ Race was won by Paul Litza, Carson picked up second, Lee Peak
third and Josh in fourth.
The burn out contest was won by Jason Teatz of Marshfield in his1998 Chevy
Camaro. He did have some competition from Tim Hindman of Mosinee in his
1975 Nova, Randy Luedke of Mosinee in his 2000 Mustang and Steve Konrardy of
Marshfield in his 1997 Z28 Camaro.
A lot of stiff competition in the tire race. Several laps on the ½
mile, a couple on the ¼ mile and then more action on the front stretch.
Matt Kizewski of Mosinee was able to protect his tire while removing that of
his opponents’. Kizewski won with his #505 machine sponsored by
Hilltop Auto.
Four Forward/Backward heat races with the top two from each heat advancing to
the feature race. The competitors had to race one lap forwards, left
hand turns around the speedway, then cross the start finish line with all four
tires, put the car in reverse and complete one more lap. Quintin
Schwarze of Stratford picked up his first win of three for the night in his
green and silver #14 sponsored by California Dreams Custom Hot Rod Shop.
The pyro team not only hosted the finale of the evening, but they blew up
Rodney’s limo! The fans watched as they in several sequences total
demolished the remains of the limo.
Four heats of the 2nd Over The Line race brought out the final contestants for
the feature. The races were all ran on the ¼ mile with the second and
third place finishers advancing. Quintin Schwarze of Stratford taking
his second win.
Three heats of the Spin To Win races where the racers completed one lap, made
a 360 turn and then made another lap. Larry Draeger of Marathon advanced
from his heat to win the feature race.

VanDerLeest and Quintin Schwarze winning the feature.
