Eve of Destruction At Marshfield

Madness and mayhem overtook the speedway for a night of destruction. The
Eve of Destruction sponsored by Martinovich Trucking, WDEZ 101.9 and WIFC
95.5. The bus racers had time trials with “Hot Rod” Rodney Feltz
capturing fast time.
The freestyle burnout contest was won by Ron Wells of Stratford with his 2000
Pontiac Trans Am.
The Martinovich Trucking IROC Saturn race was won by Tom Van De Hey in the
Mid-State #1 car. Mike Kading grabbed second, Jim Piltz third, Tim Folz
fourth, Todd Martinovich fifth and Jack Hadley sixth.
“Hot Rod” Rodney then attempted his jump a Winnebago towing a boat, over a
full size limousine, lengthwise, with six boats lined up after the limo.
Rodney made two passes before his attempt. When he made the final pass,
he went up over the ramp, cleared the limo and most of the boats, landing on
all four wheels.
The tire race object is to take off other drivers’ tires while not letting
anyone rip your own off. The winner was Ron Kundinger of Spencer in the
Moo car.
The first ever Double O Seven races were won by Todd Sherfield and Ed
“Turbo” Turner. The Double O Seven race was one lap on the ˝ mile
and one lap on the small track alternating back and fourth for a total of
seven laps.
The Forward/Backward race was one lap forward and then one lap in reverse to
win. The feature forward/backward race was a little different this time
as drivers had to make right hand turns around the ˝ mile. The
Forward/Backward feature was won by Jesse Faude of Medford.
The bus race was won by “Hot Rod” Rodney with Pat Steele took second in
the Marshfield Super Speedway bus, Jay Trowbridge in the Mid-State Truck
Service bus third, Brian Carl in the New Age Masonry bus fourth, Marc Baldwin
in the Marc’s Auto Center Repair bus fifth, Ryan Pribbernow in the Miller
Time bus sixth and Brian Oppman in the Mid-State Truck Service bus seventh.
The first 2nd Over The Line race was won by Nick Weber of Stratford. The
second race was won by Kyle Rasmussen of Arpin. The third 2nd Over The
Line race was won by Ed “Turbo” Turner.
The winner of the Gauntlet Race was Matt Phelps of Marshfield.
The winner of the annual trailer race was Scott Krause of Stratford.
The demo derby winner was Mike Zygarlicke.
The finale of the evening was the incineration of two cars by the legendary
“Green Mamba” Jet Car owned and operated by Doug Rose.
Next Saturday’s program includes CarQuest Super Late Models, CarQuest Super
Stocks, 4-Cylinders and 1-Man Cruisers. Pits open at 3:30, with the
qualifying at 6 p.m. and racing at 7:30 p.m. Rain dated for Sunday, two
hours earlier. Marshfield Super Speedway is located 3.5 miles west of
Marshfield on County Road H with weekly Saturday night stock car racing April
through September. Adult grandstand admission $10.00, Students ages
10-15 yrs. $5.00 and under 10 yrs FREE with a parent. Family Ticket is
$25.00 (includes 2 adult tickets + unlimited students & children).
Everyone 16 yrs and older may sign up FREE every race night to win the 2005
Ford Mustang Pace Car to be given away on September 17th!
