First 2005 Eve of Destruction Smashing Success
By:  Mary Langreck

The first Marshfield Super Speedway Eve of Destruction for the season was a great hit.  Lots of participants and fans attended this holiday weekend special event.  The night included all the smash and crash contests plus Cody Cavanaugh the professional freestyle motocross rider, Todd Langreck and his Incineration Jet Car, plus fireworks.

Cody Cavanaugh got the program under way with his motorbike.  As he got the crowd more into it his jumps got bigger and bigger.  Cody continued to do more tricks for the fans as they cheered him on.  His X-Treme Stunt performance thrilled the crowd twice as he came back to do a second set of supermans, can-cans and no handed stunts a second time tonight.

Todd Langreck made two appearances with his Jet Car, Incineration.  Todd forced the fans to cover their ears as he performed two smoke and fire shows for them.

The burn out contest winner was determined by cheers from the crowd and this year’s winner was John Frazier in his white 1966 Chevy II Nova.

There were three, 2nd over the line races that were each two laps with the second car to cross the line deemed the winner.  Derek Krasselt won the first as his truck barrel rolled over the line second.  Kyle Rasmussen and Matt Olson were the winners of the other two.

After three heats of forward/backward races, the top two from each advanced and the final winner was Kyle Rasmussen.

The winning team after two relay heats and a feature was Edwin J Turner and Kyle Rasmussen.

Bob Leffel was the winner of the Tire Race out of over 40 contestants.

The spin to win races were won by Matt Phelps and Larry Draeger.

The trailer race was deemed a tie as the final hit ended the race for both drivers.  Shawn Carpenter and Greg Sazame won.

The night was concluded with a fireworks performance by Specialty Fireworks.  Don’t miss the second eve of destruction on August 27th with the Green Mamba Jet Car meltdown and stunts by “Hot Rod” Rodney Feltz.
