Marshfield Apologizes To Weinfurter
Mary Langreck
June 8, 2005 - Marshfield Super Speedway would like to apologize to Jeff
Weinfurter, his race team, the Weinfurter family, race fans and sponsors for a
call made during the feature race Saturday, June 4th. The call during
the race had been made to give Weinfurter the pick a lane flag, which after
reviewing the race on video tape was proven to be the wrong call on the part
of speedway officials and Weinfurter should not have been penalized.
Speedway officials reversed the decision awarding a tie to Weinfurter and
Chris Weinkauf.
A correction of a published photo of Weinfurter and Weinkauf that read the two
were battling for the lead was also an error as the photo was taken under
caution.
Effective immediately, the pick a lane flag will no longer be used at the
Speedway as it has been deemed too much of a judgment decision in its
use. Drivers will be allowed to run their race without interference of
speedway officials.
