Pettis Scores Super Late Victory & Soenksen Takes Limited Late Fast Time & Feature Win
Marshfield Super Speedway
The American Asphalt and Stratford Sign Night almost froze out the fans, but
the racing action was hot. Jeff Weinfurter was quick timer in the Super
Lates, Joel Soenksen in his first visit grabbed fast time and the Limited Late
Model feature win. Cale Laessig in the Supers also was best in time and
in the feature. Cody Meyer picked up a clean sweep in the 1-Man
Cruisers.
The first three laps of the CARQUEST Super Late Model feature were led by Jay
VanDerGeest. Jeff Weinfurter then took over and looked to take the
win. Ben Pettis had worked his way through the field and began to reel
in Weinfurter. Pettis worked the inside groove under Weinfurter.
Lap 20, Pettis was the new leader and stretched his lead to hold on for the
win. Weinfurter finished second, Jay VanDerGeest third, Darek Gress
fourth and Tim Hintz fifth.
Mike Merriam led the first two laps of the first Limited Late Model feature
this season. Bo Bennish led the next 15 laps as Joel Soenksen chased him
down for the lead. Soenksen battled close with Bennish and came out the
new leader on lap 18. Soenksen took the victory, Bennish second, Mike
Merriam third, Jody Benson fourth and Rick Hetzel fifth.
The CARQUEST Super Stock field was led by Randy Emmerich for the first two
laps. Chad Scholl then led the next three. 2004 Track Champ Cale
Laessig then took charge. Last week’s feature winner, Andy Simonis
tried to catch Laessig to challenge for the lead, but Laessig stayed out
front. Brian Weinfurter, Matt Pyburn and Tim Plowman all raced their way
to the front looking to advance. Laessig fended off Simonis for the win,
Simonis second, Weinfurter third, Plowman fourth and Pyburn fifth.
Laps one through four of the 1-Man Cruiser feature were led by Pat Dickman.
Then Cody Meyer took the lead and held on for the win and a clean sweep.
Tim Dickman took second, Wayne Dietz third, Mike Denny fourth and Todd Hoeper
fifth.
Next Saturday is Weber Farms Milk Store and Nasonville Dairy Night at the
races. Pits open at 3:30, stands 5 p.m., qualifying 6 p.m. and racing
7:30. Race divisions include Super Late Models, Super Stocks,
4-Cylinders and 1-Man Cruisers. Raindated for Sunday, pits open 1:30,
stands open 3 p.m., qualifying 4 p.m., racing 5:30. Marshfield Super
Speedway is located 3.5 miles west of Marshfield on County Road H with weekly
Saturday night stock car racing April through September. Adult
grandstand admission $10.00, Students ages 10-15 yrs. $5.00 and under 10 yrs
FREE with a parent. Family Tickets $25.00 (includes 2 adult tickets +
unlimited students & children).
