Marshfield Super Speedway
Marshfield, WI, June 28, 2003 -
The Martinovich Trucking Inc. and WGLX 103.3 EVE of
DESTRUCTION was a successful smash and crash night. Rodney Feltz started
out the night with fast time in the 1-Man Cruiser division. He went on
to win the feature, the Tire Race and perform several stunts.
In the 1-Man Cruiser heat race, Randy Meyer led the first lap, Rodney Feltz
led lap two and then Meyer took the lead back for the win. The feature
event though was all Feltz as he took the lead on lap one and never looked
back. Meyer took second spot on the first lap but was unable to catch
Feltz. Feltz winning the feature his first night out in the Cruisers
this season, Meyer second, Travis Zvolena third, Nick Klimpke fourth and Steve
Bores fifth.
The winner of the Burn Out Contest was Terry Gorski of Mosinee with his 1978
TransAm.
Rodney Feltz of Marshfield was the surviving winner of the Tire Race as he was
the only one left with his tire still tied to the back of his truck.
The Forward/Backward Race was won by none other than Marshfield's Fran Esser.
Larry Draeger of Marathon and Mark Fletcher of Wausau were the winning Relay
Race team.
The Trailer Race was won by Ben Becker of Stratford.
"Hot Rod" Rodney's first stunt for the evening was to show the crowd
how an air bag goes off on impact. He drove his Saturn into another
stationary car. The first attempt did not set off the air bag. So,
Rodney tried again, a little faster. The air bag did deploy. But
he wasn't done he continued to smash this small red car until it was super
compacted.
"Hot Rod's" other stunt for the night was to smash through a camper
and into the car pulling it. Once again, he did just that. His
stunt car drove through the camper and slammed into the back window of the
Blues Brothers car that was towing the camper. His crew then removed the
stunt car and the Blues Brothers car and "Hot Rod" then smashed
through the camper until there was nothing left. But he still wasn't
done. Rodney brought out his Ford Ranger that he won the Tire Race with
and rolled it over for the crowd.
The finale for the evening was an awesome fireworks show put on by Specialty
Fireworks.
The winner of the Wal-Mart bicycle was Daniel Sternweis of Marshfield.
