Marshfield Super Speedway
Marshfield, WI, May 24, 2003 - The new asphalt was ready for racing this Saturday. The track had to sprayed down with water to keep it cool, which delayed practice. This didn't slow down Arpin's Judd Brandl as he set fast time in his Super Late Model for the second week in a row. Tim Plowman of Port Edwards in the Super Stocks also taking quick time honors two weeks in a row. Randy Meyer from Colby set his first fast time in the 1-Man Cruisers.
The CARQUEST Super Late Model race was a five-car battle for the lead. Eugene Gregorich Jr. took the lead from the start, but he had to fight to hang onto it. By lap nine Dean LaPointe was in second looking to take the lead. Hard chargers Jeff Weinfurter, Doug Drost and Judd Brandl were right behind him. As the top five all raced for the lead, LaPointe was on the outside of Gregorich getting closer and closer to taking it from him. When they drove into turn three, Gregorich blew a tire turning him up into LaPointe, causing both of them to spin to the top of the track. Gregorich had to take his machine to the pits. He also took the blame for the yellow, allowing LaPointe to keep his position at the front of the field. LaPointe fought off Weinfurter and Drost the last four laps for the win. This was LaPointe's first feature win on the asphalt. Drost took second, Weinfurter third, Brandl fourth and rookie Danny Heinritz fifth.
Brendan Klueckman led the first lap of the Super Stock feature. Don Tieman Jr. then took over the lead until he spun on lap 11. Larry Schultz, Shawn Stelzer, Ken Soyka and Matt Raykowski were holding the top five. Raykowski was forced to pit as his car was leaking fluid. Schultz held the lead on the re-start, but was unable to hold off Shawn Stelzer who quickly took it from him. Tim Hintz and Tim Plowman both started deep in the field were working their way to the front. Stelzer won, Schultz second, Soyka third, Hintz fourth and Plowman fifth.
Thirteen two-wheeled gladiators sparked up the track tonight, with Edgars' Jake Knetter taking the victory in the first heat over Marshfield's Cliff Eckes Jr. In the second heat fast starting Brad Seavers withstood Steve Kasten's charge to the front to hold on for his first ever heat race victory, while Rapids native Ron Bean worked his way up to third. With the top three from each heat race on the front row, except for back row starting Steve Kasten, the feature race was a dogfight from the green flag to the checkered. Jake Knetter controlled first place the whole race on his SK Service sponsored Yamaha 440 YZ, while Brad Seavers of Junction City and Cliff Eckes of Marshfield fought over second place. Kasten marched towards the front, taking second away from the Seavers/Eckes battle on the seventh lap. Kasten's engine went up in a cloud of smoke on lap nine, while Seavers edged Eckes for the runner up spot at the checkered flag.

Pat Dickman led the field for the first two laps of the 1-Man Cruiser feature. Mike Dodson then took charge and held out for the win. Fast timer Randy Meyer quickly moved up to second but was unable to catch Dodson. Dickman held on strong in third. Point leader Travis Zvolena racing in the borrowed machine of Rodney Feltz grabbed the fourth position. Dodson winning his third feature this season. Meyer finished second, Dickman third, Zvolena fourth, and Nick Klimpke fifth.
