Luxemburg's LaCrosse Ready To Defend Hometown Crown

(Luxemburg, WI) April 2 - Luxemburg's Benji LaCrosse is ready to defend his hometrack IMCA modified crown when the season opens Friday night, April 20 at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds. LaCrosse struggled with a new machine down in Florida during Speedweeks and was involved in a wreck during a spring race with yet a different car. Above it all, LaCrosse is poised to defend his home turf at the third-mile, clay oval.

2006 proved to be a banner year for LaCrosse, who also nailed down both IMCA national and regional crowns, as well as the track championship at Seymour Speedway as well. LaCrosse earned 12 feature wins and finished an incredible 47 top five finishes. LaCrosse will continue the three night grind per week hoping to defend his national and regional crowns as well.

With 28 out of the top 30 modified drivers in last years points returning to compete weekly, LaCrosse's attempt at a title defense should be tougher than ever. Among the chief opponents to dethrone LaCrosse are last year's points runnerup Sean Jerovetz of Little Suamico and third place finisher Green Bay's Jared Siefert. Others include former multi time champions RM Van Pay of Denmark, Seymour's Brian Mullen and Green Bay's Eddie Muenster.

De Pere's Jay Matthias, Frog Station's Dan Ratajczak, Pulaski's Chad Wilcox, Algoma's Todd Dart and Jeremy Jacobs of Kewaunee. Sturgeon Bay's Randy LeMieux Jr. and Little Suamico's Danny Deau are slated to return, along with last season's rookie-of-the-year Shawn Kilgore of Kewaunee. Leading this year's rookie crop in the modifieds will be last season's IMCA stock car champion Jason Czarapata of Pulaski.

The 2007 season will kick off Friday night, April 20 at 7 p.m. IMCA modifieds, IMCA stock cars, IMCA hobby stocks, IMCA northern sportmods and sport fours will compete weekly through Labor day weekend.

An open practice session for cars in any and all divisions will take place Friday, April 13 from 6 to 9 p.m. For more information call 920 863 8446. The track's website is luxemburgspeedway.com.

Luxemburg Speedway is located 15 minutes east of Green Bay off highway 54 at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds.
