Dart Fends Off LaCrosse To Win Luxemburg IMCA Mod Feature
by Joe Verdegan
(Luxemburg, WI) July 28 - Algoma's Todd "Felix" Dart fought off a
fast-closing Benji LaCrosse of Luxemburg on the final lap and held on to win
his second 23 lap IMCA modified feature of the season at Luxemburg Speedway
Friday night.
132 cars were on hand to race, including 36 IMCA modifieds, 42 IMCA stock
cars, 21 IMCA hobby stocks, 17 street stocks and 18 sport fours.
Dave Fischer jumped from his front row starting spot into the lead of the 25
lap IMCA modified feature. Dart wrestled the lead away from Fischer on lap
two. A lap five spin by Jeremy Jacobs halted the action. After a pair of
aborted attempts at a restart racing resumed LaCrosse slipped into second and
began pressuring Dart on the outside line. The pair pulled away from the field
with Dart protecting the lower line. LaCrosse moved to the bottom to challenge
Dart.
By lap 16 LaCrosse went back to the high groove. With three laps to go
LaCrosse pulled nearly even with Dart. Dart held on for the win, with
LaCrosse, Jared Siefert Brian Mullen and Sean Jerovetz rounded out the top
five finishers. Green Bay's Dave Fischer earned his best finish of the season
winding up sixth.
Kewaunee's Brian Bruechert survived a pair of late race caution periods to win
his first 22 lap IMCA stock car feature of the season. With his heat win
Bruechert swept the division for the night.
Polesitter Pat Davister paced the opening eight rounds of the 22 lap contest
before Bruechert ducked underneath for the lead on lap nine. A Dave Davister
spin on lap 10 tightened up the field. When racing resumed Bruechert
maintained the lead with Davister glued to his rear bumper. Jason Czarapata
moved into third and the trio ran nose-to-tail for the next several
laps.
A five car pileup involving some backmarkers on lap 17 set up a five lap dash
to the finish. Another yellow flew with two laps remaining, setting up a green
white checkered finish. Bruechert kept his challengers at bay on the restart
to collect the win. Czarapata, Jamie Colwell, Greg Gretz and Davister rounded
out the top five.
Forestville's Von Eychenson won his second 16 lap street stock feature. Fred
Davister, Kyle Kudick, Mitch Landvick and Todd Everard rounded out the top
five finishers.
Oconto Falls Joe White passed Mike Mueller for the lead on lap eight and went
on to win the 18 lap IMCA hobby stock feature, his first of the season.
Mueller collected second place money, followed by Tom Brumlic, Jesse Kanas and
Dan Davister.
Green Bay's Matt Theys won the 15 lap sport four feature, guest driving Brad
Williquette's car.
Next Friday night, August 4 Seubert Calf Ranches will sponsor the third late
model special at the track. A 40 lap feature will be run for the Wisconsin
Dirt Late Model Association Late Models. A full points night will be held for
the IMCA modifieds, IMCA stock cars and IMCA hobby stocks. For more
