Siefert Shades Field In Luxemburg Mod Main

(Luxemburg, WI) Sept. 30 - Green Bay's Jared Siefert took the lead from Brian
Joski on lap three and held on to win the 25 lap IMCA style modified feature
at Luxemburg Speedway Friday night during the first night of the second annual
Luxemburg Fall Classic presented by Pepsi and Budweiser.
A total of 175 cars in six divisions representing three states were on hand
during the first night, led by 43 modifieds and stock cars. In the modifieds
and stock cars the top eight finishers earned starting berths in tomorrow
night's main events. The top six street stock finishers earned starting spots
in tomorrow's main while the top four finishers in the other divisions earned
spots in the redraws for their respective main events tomorrow.
Green Bay's Brian Joski paced the opening circuit of the modified feature. A
lap two accident drew a red flag in the early going, when a chain reaction
involving several cars sent multi-time track champion RM Van Pay on his roof.
Van Pay emerged unhurt. Track champion Benji LaCrosse and Jay Matthias were
also involved. LaCrosse went off on the hook and later rejoined the field
along with Matthias.
On the restart Siefert began pressuring Joski, passing him on lap three.
Siefert wasted no time putting a sizeable cushion between himself and the rest
of the field. Tim Van De Hei scooted past Joski for second. On lap six Brian
Drexler and Scott Lewis locked horns, drawing the second amber of the event.
When racing resumed Siefert picked up where he left off and quickly distanced
himself from the field once again. Siefert was never headed again as the 2005
IMCA Wisconsin state champion picked up the win by nearly a full straightaway
over the rest of the field. Trailing at the checkers were Van De Hei, Dan
Ratajczak, Dan Gracyalny and Matthias, who recovered from the earlier wreck as
did LaCrosse, who sliced his way through the field to take sixth.
Hometown driver Laurel Ettien swept action in the IMCA-style division,
capturing his heat and winning the 22 lap feature, his first here of the
season. Ettien inherited the lead when leader Jason Czarapata dropped out with
engine problems on lap five. Ettien sweated out a caution with four laps to
go, as veterans Brian Bruechert and Rod Snellenberger applied heavy pressure
in the final laps, as the pair finished second and third, respectively. Shawn
Kilgore and Greg Gretz rounded out the top five finishers.
Hometown driver Larry Ingebretsen lost the lead to Fred Davister, only to
repass Davister on the final lap to win the caution free, 20 lap street stock
feature.
Ingebretsen scored a clean sweep with his heat win. Davister trailed by mere
feet at the checkers, followed by Dave Hoerning, Harley Simon and Jerry Kope.
Denmark's Tom Brumlic won the 18 lap IMCA style hobby stock feature. In his
first ever appearance at the track, Brillion's Ryan Eickert, a regular at 141
Speedway, captured the 15 lap Challenger hobby feature.
Beaver Dam's Tim Draheim hushed the crowd during the sport four feature when
his racer flew off of turn one, performing five barrel rolls before coming to
a rest on it's side. Draheim was unhurt. Pleasant Prairie's Adam Abshire
halted action during the first hobby stock heat when his racer barrel rolled
on the backstretch. He was unhurt.
