Action Heats Up The (Ice) Burg
By Scott Owen
Luxemburg,WI, April 29--Opening night at the Luxemburg Speedway was
highlighted by some awesome on track action. The chilly crowd was
thrilled by an IMCA modified duel between Jared Siefert and Benji LaCrosse.
Todd Dart use his front row starting position to grab the lead at the
start. Both Siefert and LaCrosse started in the middle of the
field. Siefert used the outside line and LaCrosse used the inside line
to get to the front of the pack. As the laps wound down the two drivers
were working lapped traffic and swapping the lead back and forth.
Siefert eventually came out on top as the checkered flag flew. LaCrosse
finished a close second with Dart, Mike Klenz, and Eddie Muenster rounding out
the top five.
In IMCA stock car action Rod Snellenberger had some luck on his side as he
drew for the pole position. Snellenberger was followed closely by Jason
Czarapata the entire race. Many times Czarapata took a look to the
inside of Snellenberger, but Snellenberger closed the door every time.
At the end it was Snellenberger leading wire to wire. Czarapata took
second, Dave Bouche had strong run to get third, Kyle Frederick was fourth,
and Jeremy Christians was fifth. After the feature Shawn Kilgore pulled
into the claim area and purchased Snellenbergers' engine.
The IMCA hobby stock feature was led early on by former ice racer Jesse Kanas.
Kanas was constantly being pestered by Tony Schlei. With only a handfull
of laps left Schlei was able to complete the pass for the lead. At the
end it was Schlei first, Dan Davister second, Kanas third, and Kieth Kickbusch
fourth.
The final feature of the night proved to be very exciting also. The
sport four compact feature was dominated early by Greg Banker. Mark Rose
started deep in the field but worked his way up to the top spot as the white
flag flew. Banker battled back in turn number one, and the two cars made
contact. Tyler Smith, who got engaged at intermission, was running third
at the time and had to slow down for the contact. Tim Jorgenson used the
outside line to pass all three cars and take the lead in turn two.
Jorgenson started dead last in starting grid but was able to hold on for the
win followed by Smith, Tim Peer, Kraig Koehler, and Mark Rose.
The lady four division made its debut with Amanda Johnson picking up the
win. Sue Cherney, Rachelle Junio, and Allison Wrobel rounded out the
four car field.
Action will continue next Friday at seven o'clock with the street stocks
replacing the lady fours in the racing program.
