Erik Pierce Wins Sportsman Crown
MAY GRABS NUMBER EIGHT, MOVES CLOSER

Lake Geneva, WI. September 16th. It’s midway through the month of September
and the Saturday night race show at Lake Geneva Raceway, had a championship
race. The race winner was Kenny Smart of Oconomwoc and Erik Pierce from
Lake in the Hills, Illinois finished sixth to win his first career
championship in the Performance Unlimited sportsman division. Eddie May from
Crystal Lake, IL. won his ninth 40 lap super late model feature and moved
within a few points of winning his second title in his career. Next
Saturday night will determine the championship. In the McHenry Limousine super
stocks, Genoa City driver Tom Jastrab picked up the win of the 30 lap feature.
In the checkered flag season, the first appear of the Midwest super truck
series,20 lap feature went to veteran driver Bill Prietzel of Richfield.
This coming Saturday night marks championship races for two more divisions.
The super late models pit Eddie May against Landry Potter for the final title.
In the super stocks, Adam Regnier of Twin Lakes is the points leader, with
second generation driver Scott Norton of Wonder Lake, IL. in second place and
former champion Jack Rubach of Burlington in third for a three way battle for
the crown.
On the printed schedule from the beginning of the season, the INEX bandolero
and Perfection Auto Body INEX legends were to hold their championships this
night too. But due to five rain outs on their regular Friday night program,
they will race for nationwide INEX points along with the raceway points, but
the championship will now be part of the Quality Auto and Truck Repair of
Kenosha and Bilderback Auto Parts of South Beloit, IL. small car world
championships on the 29th. of this month. This will be part of the four day
Victor Ford of Wauconda, IL./Bud Light fall classic, which starts the 28th.
and runs through October 1st.This coming Saturday night, time trials begin at
5:45 pm. and races at 7.There will be no increase in admission spectator
prices. Parking is still free, along with children under 8 with an adult
admission purchase. The program will be co-sponsored by Bear Reality and the
Madison International Speedway. The final oval track race will be on October
21st.
