Clean Sweeps For Doherty And LeSage At LGR
SCHOFFEN RUNS AWAY WITH LGR LM FEATURE

Lake Geneva, WI. September 2nd. - It was another great night for stock car racing, as Lake Geneva Raceway held it’s second to the last Friday night weekly program ever. With just one more night Sonny Schoffen of Crystal Lake, Illinois the current points leader, had a near perfect night, with taking fast time and running away with the late model feature for 30 laps. Schoffen holds a slim 80 point lead over Union Grove’s Keith Tolf, who could be the only driver to catch him. Steve Doherty of Rockford, IL. clean swept the Basic International division. Steve took fast time, won the dash and the 15 lap feature race. Jeff LeSage had an excellent night in the rascal outlaw series. The Elgin, IL. driver took fast time, won the heat and the 20 lap feature race. Ernie Schaal of Wauconda, IL. gained 20 points tonight, by winning the Perfection Auto Body INEX legends 15 lap feature. The group was one car short of a 20 lap main. In the Luisa’s pizzeria mini modifieds, Jerry Giuliano of Schaumburg, IL. won the 15 lap feature race.

This coming Friday night marks the end of weekly racing on that night. The championships for the weapons, BIC’s and late models are on tap. The INEX bandolero will return after a week at the nationals. Taylor Dawson, who is 12 years old, will race in the bandolero class, in the number 9, Speedway Auto Mall race car. The rascal outlaw series will also race. There will be no increase in admission prices for the spectators. Time trials will be at 6pm. racing at 7:30.
