After 44 Years This Will Be The Final Season Opener

Lake Geneva, WI. (spl) On Saturday night April 15th. the final season opener will take place for Lake Geneva Raceway located in Southeastern Wisconsin. When the gates open up at 4 pm. history will be made. After starting off as a drag strip back in 1962, the 100 acre complex grew into Wisconsin busiest race track. Now it’s 2006 and things have changed. Acres have been sold off, the drag strip closed back 1975,the world’s fastest one third mile paved banked was born in 1990.But after October racing ends the 2006 season will be the last. Next April everything will be gone and 325 homes will take the place of weekly Friday night stock car racing and motocross racing. along with the best oval track show on Saturday nights will be no more.

But this Saturday night be part of history as weekly racing begins. There will be tee-shirts and sweat shirts for sale marking this date. The Budweiser super late models will return with defending champion Jamie Wallace out of nearby Pell Lake taking on some 20 plus drivers all looking to be the final champion. The McHenry Limousine super stocks, named Wisconsin’s number one support division with a wide open field after defending champion Mike Gunderson from Wind Lake joining the super late model ranks. The Performance unlimited sportsman 2005 champion Kenny Joosten of Wonder Lake will have his hands full, as many experienced and new drivers to the field are expected.

Weekly Friday night racing begins May 5th. with the Bilderback Auto Parts world class small car spring opener.

Saturday night racing has time trials beginning at 5:45 pm. racing will commence at 7 sharp. Visit the LGR website for the schedule for this final season, at www.lakegenevaraceway.com
