By Dale R.  Erdmann, Corina Skinner and Breanna Blink

Lake Geneva, WI. August 27th. The no bull series round number three at Lake Geneva Raceway, Saturday night was sponsored by 5 Star Race car bodies of Twin Lakes.  Eddie May out of Crystal Lake, Illinois won his eighth super late model feature of the season when he won the 50 lap feature going home with over $1300 for his efforts. Jamie Wallace was the overall winner of the three race series that started back on May 21st. then ran July 23rd and tonight. Wallace grabbed $1000 for the no frills event. Ken Eisbrenner of Racine won his second 25 lap feature for the McHenry Limousine super stock cars. The LGR late models 25 lap feature that ran non stop was won by Sonny Schoffen of Crystal Lake, IL. Erik Gehrke of Grays Lake, IL.  won the 15 lap super mini cups feature, sponsored by Valvoline motor oil. Drivers in all divisions received products. The Midwest sport trucks 15 lap feature was won by Dale Gustum.

Rick Corso moved in front of the super late model field as the double greens appeared. Earl Counter was second for the first three laps, before Kent Burkoth moved forward. Within a few laps the top two would put on a show for that position but then the first Yellow Book USA caution period was on lap 7, for a Mike Meyer-Hofer and Fran Prestay tangle. Underway again, saw Corso still the leader. Lap seventeen Burkoth who on occasion had led part of a lap, took over the front spot.

One lap later Vincent Merry spun and another slowdown ensued. With the next green flag Burkoth was in firm command of that front spot. On lap twenty one Counter had problems and then got off the track into a spin and out came the caution.  Burkoth still had the lead on the restart, but Eddie May and Jamie Wallace were all over the leader. On lap twenty eight, May inched along side Burkoth and the lead changed before the lap was over. It would be non stop racing until the checkered as May held on for the win over Wallace, Burkoth, Jerry Cowan, a recovered Prestay and Jacob Humphrey.

Bill Morris led the first four laps of the super stock feature before Ken Eisbrenner slipped in front and never looked back for the win. Before that happened an usual amount of caution flags were displayed first on lap six when John Maki Jr.  had a flat tire. Then a long delay on lap eight, when Vaughn Lesko dumped liquid as over oval, making for a big clean up. On lap twelve Randy Schneider tagged Tom Roney and another caution arrived. Earlier Jamie Starks challenged the leader, then Mike Gunderson and lastly Adam Regnier. Eisbrenner won the race, with Regnier, then Scott Norton the fast qualifier third, Gunderson fourth, Schneider recovered for fifth and Starks was sixth.

Brandon Scurto last weeks feature winner was the early leader of the super mini cup feature, before quick timer Jake Jump moved in front. The first two cautions came on lap six, the other just after the restart Scurto and Jump tangled and Erik Gehrke took over the lead and won the close contest by inches over Jeff Myers and a closing fast Jump who settled for third. Scurto was fourth and Michael Ellis.

Second Generation driver Rob Maule led the first three laps of the LGR late model feature, with Carrie Dygon right behind the leader. On lap four Ken Johnson moved into the lead with Brian Ulrich and Sonny Schoffen the fast qualifier next at lap ten.  Schoffen took some time to get past Ulrich, but then it took five more laps to caught and past Johnson after numerous attempts before it happened, on lap seventeen. Josh Wallace the points leader got a clear track with five more laps to go, but never seriously got a chance to do just that and settled for second, as Schoffen now made it five feature wins in a row. third was Johnson, Keith Tolf was fourth and Ulrich fifth.

This coming weekend will mark four different shows here. On Friday there will be the oval track finale for weekly racing, motocross continues on the stadium dirt course, on Saturday night oval presents weekly action as the three regular divisions race at 7 pm.  On Monday the Midwest Enduro series presents the Mark”Tiny” Amborn Memorial race, along with a small car enduro on the quarter and a coin grab and a whole lot more starting at 12:30pm.  rain or shine.
