( West Salem , WI – May 5, 2007) - Steve Carlson, of West Salem , Wis. , won the Whelen 25 lap feature after fighting his way to the front from a mid-pack starting position. Carlson, who won the opening night race at La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway, quickly found fellow point contender, Mark Lamoreaux, as they marched through the field. Both stayed together until a caution on lap 10 put Lamoreaux to the back of the field. At that point Carlson moved to second and five laps later passed Andy Burgess for the lead. In a post race interview Carlson said “The car was so fast. Andy was getting loose and I had more bite getting off the turn. (I) was able to catch him.” Burgess finished 2nd.

A four car spin brought out the only caution of the night. Skylar Holzhausen got into the back of Todd Oliver putting him in the wall. That caused Oliver to collect Lamoreaux and Brent Kirchner. Kirchner (25th) and Oliver (24th) had to go to the pits, and Holzhausen (18th) was sent to the back along with Lamoreaux who fought his way back to a 10th place finish. Skylar Holzhausen’s father, Steve Holzhausen, had a good night finishing 3rd. Kevin Nuttleman finished 4th and Bradley Powell finished 5th in his first race of the season.

This week there was a special 20 lap North Country Contractors Sportsman race. Larry Bolster Jr. won after starting seventh. Bolster Jr. passed Rob Mason (9th) for second early in the race and raced side by side with Randy Steinhoff for three laps before finally passing him for first. Jes Tenner finished 2nd, Dan Gilster 3rd, Jerimy Wagner 4th, and Randy Humfeld 5th.

Harley Jankowski won the United Auto Supply Thunderstox race for his first ever feature win. He passed Steven Rusch (23rd) on the outside, then quickly dove deep to pass Craig Schmidt (19th) for second, all in the first lap. Jankowski managed to keep the lead for the rest of the race. Troy Chase (2nd), Jason Schaller (3rd), Jamie Dummer (4th) and Adam Moore (5th) round out the top five.
