Oktoberfest Race Weekend at the La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway. This
year’s event will take place on October 5-8, 2006.
Over 500 racers are expected in 15 different divisions competing over the
four-day event.
“La Crosse’s Best Country” CC106.3 FM presents the opening night of
racing action on Thursday, October 5th with the Big 8 Series Late Models,
Thunderstox, Enduro, Double-O and R.A.Y.S. (Run All Your Stuff, an open
competition event on the quarter mile) in action. The grandstands will
open at 5:05 p.m. with qualifying starting at 5:20 p.m. The racing
action will get underway at 7:00 p.m. All of the divisions will have
feature racing with the Big 8 Series 40-lap season finale feature event
highlighting the night.
The racing action continues on Friday sponsored by Coca-Cola. The
grandstands will open at 2:45 p.m. with qualifying taking place at 3:00
p.m. At 5:00 p.m. fans are invited to the Big Red Barn for an autograph
session with the stars of the NASCAR Autozone Elite Division Midwest
Series. The racing action will get underway at 6:00 p.m. with the
Central Wisconsin Late Models and Area Sportsman in action.
Highlighting the evening of racing will be the final event for the NASCAR
Autozone Elite Division Midwest Series. Dick Trickle will serve as the
Grand Marshal for the Farewell “150.”
It will be a big day on Saturday as Miller Genuine Draft sponsors the twilight
start of racing action. The ASA Late Model North Series, Mid-American
Series, La Crosse Sportsmen, and the Wisconsin Late Models will all be in
action. The grandstands will open at 12:20 p.m. with qualifying getting
underway at 12:30 p.m.
The racing action will get underway at 4:00 p.m. for all of the
divisions. Two main events will highlight this night of racing.
First, the ASA Late Model North Series will compete in a 100-lap feature
event. Second, for the first time ever, two former ARTGO champions will
go head-to-head in a best 2 out of 3 (4 laps) match race. See Dick
Trickle take on Jim Weber in what will be a memorable event.
Miller Lite will sponsor the final day of racing. The fun gets underway
at 9:15 a.m. with the annual on track fan/driver photo & autograph
session. Opening ceremonies will take place at 11:45 a.m. with racing
starting at noon.
The Wisconsin Late Models, La Crosse Late Models, Midwest Supertruck Series
and Modifieds will all be in action. The best Late Model drivers will
take to the 5/8 mile oval in a 100-lap main event. Will Steve Holzhausen
go for two in a row? Or will Dick Trickle show that he may be older than
most of the competitors, he still knows how to win?
Fans are invited to the famous after-race parties in the Exhibition Building
after the racing action on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.
Besides the racing on the track, fans are invited to participate in the
Memorabilia Show on Saturday with free admission, a pumpkin coloring contest
for the kids on Sunday along with the famous Pancake Charity Breakfast.
The Camper Village opens at noon on Monday, October 2. Sorry, camping
units are not permitted on the grounds until Monday.
A full schedule of events along with hotel information and directions are now
available on the track’s website, www.lacrossespeedway.com.
Make your plans now to be a part of “Racing’s Family Reunion.”
Four days of great racing action with the great fall colors as your
background.
