Hoffman Hopes To Return To Victory Lane At Fest
By: Kevin Ramsell
Wednesday, August 30, 2006 (West Salem, WI) – Eddie Hoffman, a three-time
Oktoberfest champion can’t wait to return to the fall event and get himself
back into victory lane. Hoffman will make the trek from Illinois to
compete at the 2006 Oktoberfest Race Weekend at the La Crosse Fairgrounds
Speedway.
Hoffman, from Wheaton, IL, won Oktoberfest in 1998, 1999, and 2001.
“It’s a neat track,” Hoffman recently stated. “The cars and
things have changed the last few years, setups and that sort of things.
We will have to do some things to get the car better. Everyone else
caught up and passed us.”
Hoffman’s wins came when he competed in the NASCAR Autozone Elite Division
– Midwest Series. Last year, he finished second to Tim Schendel.
He also competed in the ASA Late Model Series event where he finished fourth
behind winner, Charlie Menard. He also placed a fourth place finish in
the ARTGO Reunion 100 which was won by Steve Holzhausen.
Hoffman is having a successful 2006 season. He has one win in the ASA
Late Model Series Challenge division and two wins in the ASA Late Model Series
North Division. He is also in a great battle for the track championship
at Grundy County Speedway in Morris, IL.
Hoffman plans on competing in the Wisconsin Late Model and ASA Late Model
Series North Division events at Oktoberfest. But, don’t be surprised
if he finds rides to compete in the Big 8 Series and the Midwest Series.
When asked about what is the first thing that comes to his mind about
Oktoberfest, he says, “Good Dinners.”
He also likes the format, “It’s a long weekend but you make plans for
that. You go up there for two or three days and bring the family along
which is good. You are able to do some things with them and watch more
than one division of racing.”
He easily sums up his feelings of Oktoberfest like many others, “Anybody and
everybody from racing come so it’s pretty cool,” Hoffman stated.
“It’s definitely one that you know you are going to. You see when
the date is and its something like taxes, God and Oktoberfest.”
The 2006 Oktoberfest Race Weekend is scheduled for October 5-8 at the La
Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway. It will be a busy four days of racing with
15 different divisions competing. For more information, please visit the
track’s website at www.lacrossespeedway.com.
As Dick Trickle says, “It’s truly ‘Racing’s Family Reunion’.”
