Nuttleman Widens Point Lead With Three To Go At LaCrosse

With Just three weeks remaining, and 150 green flag feature laps to go, Kevin Nuttleman widened his Kwik Trip NASCAR Late Model point lead over Andy Burgess last week.  At the conclusion of the United Building Centers / USG 25, Nuttleman finished 4th, while Burgess, who started mid-pack, had a difficult time working traffic, finished 9th. That stretched Nuttleman's five point lead at ! the start of the evening to nineteen at the conclusion.

Jim Hagel posted his best career finish in the Late Model Division, a second place, in his eight-year career in the Late Model division.  Meanwhile, Dan Gilster, in just his second Late Model start in the Team Menard car, finished third.  Skylar Holzhausen - seventh in points - is the leading rookie of the year candidate, 23 points ahead of Mike Carlson.   With just three weeks remaining, the Kwik Trip NASCAR Late Model championship fight is still the closest seen in about ten years.  Be sure not to miss any of the action!

Gilster Loses lead; Olson on Top for First Time
Last Week's UBC / USG 15 in the Ray Hutson Chevrolet Grand National Sportsmen Division saw problems arise for Jimmy Gilster,&nbs! p;who finished the feature in last place, due to mechanical problems.& nbsp; Chand Wehling fought off a last lap charge by Dan Linnehan, and took the feature win by inches, in probably the closest finish of the 2006 season.  With Gilster's problems, he lost the points lead, and it looks to be the tightest championship fight ever seen in the Ray Hutson Chevrolet Grand National Sportsmen Division.  John Olson took over the lead, with 633 points, while Trent Boettcher is two points back, and Gilster now is three behind.  Feature winner Wehling is only eight behind, and Larry Bolster Jr. is back into contention, with a seventeen point deficit.  Randy Humfeld, 14th in points, has a comfortable lead in Rookie of the Year standings, 53 ahead of Keith Kirchner.  We will see a new first-time Sportsmen Champion this season, and with four feature races remaining, it's up for grabs, so don't miss a lap of excitement!

Moores Continue to keep the Fight in the Family
As the United Auto Supply Thunderstox season winds down, this season has featured a fight for top honors between brothers Adam and Andy Moore.  This week, Adam leads by 19 points over Andy, while Charles Vian Jr. (30 points back) and Steve Bornitz (-31) are still mathematically in contention.  Another Moore, Matt, cousin of the two leaders, looks to be on his way to earning Rookie of the Year in the Thunderstox.  Matt, a Features Sports Bar & Grill Hornet division graduate, is currently sitting in 14th position in the standings.  The season concludes Thursday night, October 5th at the Oktoberfest Race Weekend.
