Thrills, Spills And Destruction At LaCrosse's Inaugural Smash-O-Rama

West Salem, WI – May 26, 2006 - Friday night’s Smash -O- Rama was a night
of chills, spills, and thrills with Lil’ Miss Dangerous crushing cars, the
Trailer T-Bone Crash, the Steel Wall Crash, Spectacular Drags, United Auto
Supply Thunderstox racing, and Features Sports Bar and Grill Hornet racing
action.
Jerry Aylsworth of La Crosse pulled away in the first Powerade 15-Lap Feature
for the United Auto Supply Thunderstox Division after starting eleventh,
speeding past the rest of the field for the win. Andy Moore of Sparta came in
second followed by rookie Matthew Moore of Tomah. Dan Secor from West Salem
claimed the checkered flag for the second Powerade 15. After starting
fourth, he moved up to lead the race quickly. Justin Berg of Bangor, who
started ins! ide of Secor, was right on his tail, and it seemed Berg would
have the upper hand but was forced to fall in line behind Secor to claim
second.
The Features Sports Bar and Grill Hornets raced for the first time during the
2006 season, following a rained-out event on April 29th. 71 cars
turned out for Friday’s events, bringing the field to provide four heat
races and three features. John P. Clements of Bangor won the first feature,
with Trevor Chilson of La Crosse close behind. Heath Weissenberger of West
Salem brought his four cylinder Hornet around for the second feature win of
the evening followed by Jim Schermerhorn of Coon Valley. To finish off the
Hornet ex! citement, John Eron of Wisconsin Rapids claimed his first place
victory in front of Jason Moore of Millston, burning rubber all the way into
victory lane, and into the points lead for the first time in his established
Hornet career.
Along with Friday night’s racing events came the Lil’ Miss Dangerous
Monster Truck, who awed the fans with her amazing show of power, crushing
cars, and a van. On her second run out on the track, the fans saw her crush a
huge camper, in honor of the holiday weekend, lined up with three other
cars. With one straight run she ripped the trailer in two, showering
debris across the three cars. Famous area stuntman, Ben Allen, performed
the breathtaking Steel Wall Crash and Trailer T-Bone Crash, thrilling all
those in attendance.
