By: Megan Mullikin
(West Salem, WI - October 9, 2005) - The closing day of the 36th annual
Oktoberfest races provided lots of exciting race features for everyone here.
They ran the ARTGO/ Wisconsin Late Models, and the La Crosse Late Models. We
also had lots of racing action from the Big 8 Series and the Modified Cars. One
of our biggest winners this weekend was Charlie Menard winning 3 of his
feature races.
The ARTGO/ Wisconsin Late Model feature 100 was a battle for every position
down to the end. The winner of the ARTGO/ Wisconsin Late Model feature Sunday
afternoon was Steve Holzhausen, second went to Brian Hoppe and third went to
Jeremy Lepak. Holzhausen was able to take control of the race from Hoppe at
the midway point of the race. There were a number of cautions on lap number 43
Landon Cassill hit the wall out of corner number one, and on the we had a four
car pile up on the front stretch involving Matt Kocorek, Jacob Humphrey,
Jonathon Eilen and Chad Walen. Once they cleaned up the numerous car parts
left on the track we had 16 cars left in the field for the restart. All the remaining
drivers provided and exciting end to the race weekend.
The La Crosse Late Model Feature 50 race went to Charlie Menard, this is this
6th Oktoberfest race win. Menard and Lamoreaux battled for the lead position
for the whole race but Menard was able to hold him off for the win. In second
place was Mark Lamorearux and Dan Steele in third. There were two new drivers
in the pack on Sunday they were Skyler Holzhausen and Danielle Neary. Skyle is
just 16 years old , Skyler was also racing against his dad Steve Holzhausen.
