Rain Puts Dammper On 100 Lap Feature At La Crosse

(West Salem, WI - September 3, 2005) - Steady rain forced officals to cancel
the 100 lap fearture Saturday night at the La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway.
Kevin Nuttleman clinched his ninth Kwik Trip NASCAR Late Model track
championship at La Crosse, while Dan Gilster secured his 3rd track
championship in the sportsman division.
Nuttleman clinched his ninth track championship with 976 points, topping Andy
Burgess by 42 points. Nuttleman’s no stranger to the spotlight he has over
90 feature wins at La Crosse in his racing career. He also had the his record
of 13 fast qualifing efforts, a record which was snatched away from his last
week by Andy Burgess. Burgess earned his 15th fast qualifing time Saturday
with an average speed of 98.283 MPH.
Chris Skrede earned rookie of the year in the late model division, topping
2004 Sportsman champion Jeff Baker 592 points to 524.
Gilster secured his third sportsman championship by being the fast qualifier.
The washout of the remainder of the night’s events left Gilster with a
66-point lead over both Tom Thill and Jes Tenner, with just one race remaining
in the season. Gilster also earned sportsman championships in 2000 and 2003.
The United Auto Supply Thunderstox had just enough time to to get there heat
races in for the evening. The heat winners were Jerry Aylsworth, Jason
Schaller, Mike Krueger Jr. and Robert Stansfield.
