(West Salem, WI - July 3, 2005) On the Powerade Night of Thrills, the Thunderstox drivers took center stage, and Brad Warthan, Craig Chandler, and Adam Moore came away the big winners, taking wins in the two features and the annual Midnight Ride, a race in total darkness.

Brad Warthan caught John Rinartz on lap two, and threatened to pull away from the field in the first United Auto Supply Thunderstox feature. As he caught the rear of the field, Andy Barney spun in front of him, just before the white flag flew, nearly collecting the leader, and bringing out the only caution of the race.

Andy Moore moved up to challenge Warthan on the restart, but was unable to make the pass, and settled for second as Warthan took the checkers. Robert Stanfield was third, followed by Jason Dummer and Al Bartles.

Jason Bolster and Adam Moore, both in the top three in points, had bad luck, as both got clipped by other cars early in the race, and fell to the back of the field. Bolster finished ninth, while Adam Moore finished 16th.

The front of the field stayed tightly bunched in the second feature, with David Witt in the lead, and four cars staying right with him. Craig Chandler was able to work underneath Witt on lap seven to take the lead, with Jeff Stumlin following into second.

On lap 11, Witt spun in turn four, coming to a rest on the infield, bringing out the yellow. Chandler and Stumlin continued their battle on the restart, with Chandler holding on for the win, Stumlin taking second, Ben Allen third, and Ron Heller edging Dan Erdmann for fourth.

It was all Sparta in the Midnight Ride, as Adam and Andy Moore took the top two spots, with Sparta drivers Warthan, Jason Bolster and Mike Krueger, Jr.  rounding out the top five. Steve Bornitz had the best light display, with an American flag, and his car number 28 on the roof of the car.

The Thunderstox drivers also qualified for one of just two times on the season, and Charlie Vian came away quickest, averaging 53.837 MPH on the quarter mile. Craig Chandler, Jason Chandler and Charles Vian, Jr. took Double Spin to Win victories.

The front of the pack was really mixing it up in the first of three Features Sports Bar & Grill Hornets features, before Larry Burroughs moved to the front on lap four, and started pulling away from the field. His lead disappeared on lap 11, when Ryan Colby spun in turn four. Worse yet for Burroughs is the fact that he also spun in turn one before the caution flew, and moved to the back of the pack. Joe Scholze, usually a late model driver at the speedway,  inherted the lead, and pulled away on the start, with Joey Johnson, III and Kevin Turner chasing. Chris Diehlmann spun in the third row on lap 12 in front of a large group of cars, but the three cars involved all spun to the infield, and the race stayed green. Scholze held on for the win, followed by Turner, Jhnson, Chris Sampson and Jim Schermerhorn.

Heath Weissenberger was as dominant in the second feature as Burroughs was in the first, and he had far better luck, as the race stayed green from start to finish, and he managed to weave his way through traffic, and avoid spinning, to take the win. Joe Lisowski was second, followed by Larry Shaw, John Clements and Marc Hauser.

Derrick Hammer had a big early lead, but some of the top drivers in the division battled behind him. Wade Elliott, Rick Schermerhorn and Chris Johnson battled back and forth for the next three spots. Schermerhorn took the second spot, and started closing on the leader, but Johnson would not give up the battle, twice taking over second as the pair closed. The caution flew on lap 10, when a car lost a tire, which rolled through turn two, coming to a stop on the track.  The yellow bunched the field, and Schermerhorn was quick on the gas, only to have caution fly again, as Tim Klug was bounced like a pinball down the frontstretch, before coming to a rest in the straightaway.

Schermerhorn jumped out again, with Johnson right on his bumper around the quarter mile. On jap 12, Johnson looked underneath schermerhorn, but tucked back in behind the lead car. On the Final lap, Johnson went to the high side, only to find a lapped car in his way. Through the final two turns, Johnson went high again, and pulled alongside Schermerhorn, but finished a quarter-panel back at the checkered.

Heat winners were Bill Warren, Jarrod Loging, Scholze and Wade Elliott. Scholze and Loging used the same car for their  heat wins, changing the number with some nifty duct taping while pictures were being taken in Victory Lane.

Tony Leis won the Spectacular Drags, while Mary Schill won the second School Bus Race of the year.
