(West Salem, WI - June 4, 2005) Mike Belling took the lead early, as two of the top cars had problems and headed to the pits, and Mark Lamoreaux chased Belling down, then survived two late cautions to take his first feature win of the season in the Kwik Trip NASCAR Late Model division at the La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway.

Sam Andersen took the early lead from the pole position, as J. Herbst slowed on the opening lap, causing the field to bunch on the backstretch, as the 82 car of Herbst headed to the high side of the track.  Everyone managed to make it through, but one lap later, fast qualifier Andy Burgess slowed, coming to a stop on the backstretch, and bringing out the first of three cautions.

Belling moved to the outside on the restart, and moved by for the top spot on lap four, taking over as the cars came out of turn two. Lamoreaux followed by a lap later, and the top two cars opened up a lead as Andersen and Todd Oliver battled side-by-side for third for much of the race. Lamoreaux stayed behind Belling for four laps, before moving to the outside, and taking the lead for good on lap ten as the cars went through turns three and four.

Midway through the 25-lap La Crosse Tribune feature, former track champs Kevin Nuttleman and Steve Holzhausen started moving through the field,  with Nuttleman cracking the top five just before a lap 17 caution. The yellow flew as Jeff Baker, Jim Patzner and Herbst came together on the backstretch, wth Baker ending up in the wall.

Lamoreaux and Belling pulled away on the restart, and Nuttleman batted Oliver for fourth, with Holzhausen waiting for an opening to move into the top five. The final caution flew on lap 22, with Baker and Nick Schroeder coming together in turn four, and spinning at the beginning of the frontstretch.

Lamoreaux cruised to the win, with Belling second, and Nuttleman and Holzhausen moving up to third and fourth at the checkers. Anderson was fifth, followed by Oliver, Todd Korish, Tony Bagstad, Tim Nelson and Adam Degenhardt.

Jeff Baker survived an early caution, and came away with the B-Main win, while Troy Goodenough and Jim Patzner took qualifying heats, and Burgess and Adam Degenhardt won the Bud Dashes. Burgess was fast timer once again, at 98.254 MPH.

A three-lap sprint to the checkered had the fans on their feet for the Ray Hutson Chevrolet Sportsman feature, as Mike Albrecht, Jr. took the win by a half car-length over Randy Steinhoff, with Jes Tenner, Lucas Korish and Dan Gilster battling three-wide behind them at the finish. Tenner was third, Korish fourth, and Gilster fifth at the checkers.

The final sprint was set up as John Olson spun on lap 13 in turn two, collecting fast timer Dan Linnehan, and Matt Inglett among others. Race leader Jimmy Gilster had some contact with Olson before the spin, and was put to the rear of the field on the restart.

Tenner broke Linnehan’s stranglehold on the quick qualifying position, averaging 88.470 MPH for his qualifying attempt. Aaron Hass and Mike Carlson took qualifying heats, and Don Hess and Chad Rosendahl took the Bud Dash wins. Jerimy Wagner started in the front row, and ran away from the field in the B-Main.

Mike Krueger moved from his second-row starting position to take the lead on lap three of the United Auto Supply Thunderstox feature, then held off Chris Vinson down the stretch for the win. andy Barney was ghird, followed by Tom Phillips and Corey Barney.

Adam Moore recovered from a heat race brush with the frontstretch wall to take the B-Main, Dan Erdmann won the Bud Dash, and heat checkers went to Mike Krueger, Jr., Tom Phillips, Andy Barney and Corey Barney. Adam Moore also came away with the Outhouse Race win.

This weekend, in addition to the weekly divisions - the Kwik Trip NASCAR Late Models, Ray Hutson Chevrolet Sportsman and United Auto Supply Thundertox, the action packed four cylinder division, the Features Sports Bar & Grill Hornets will compete. Qualifying begins at 5:05, the Hornet heat races at 6:30, and the first race at 7:15 p.m.
