Late Models Up To $5,000 At Indian Summer Classic
Antigo, WI: The 3rd Annual Indian Summer Classic is still a couple weeks away,
but with the enthusiasm building in North East Wisconsin for the 2-day event,
you would think that it’s tomorrow! With some of the area’s most
devoted sponsors are stepping up to the plate in a big way, the event is now
one of the area’s largest paying events of the season. With the help
of the Forrest County Potawatomi Community, North Star Casino and Bingo,
Seubert Calf Ranches and Fire-Up Fireworks, the Late Model portion of the
classic is now up to a guaranteed $5,000 to win race. Add to that the
$500 bonus money being put up by FATTFRO Motorsports for the Hard Charger and
you can quickly see why many teams are suddenly turning their heads! In
addition, the FATTFRO Challenge® will add even more drama and excitement as
additional bonus money will be available to not only the driver who accepts
the challenge, but also a fan representing that driver. “We really
want to bring something special to this,” commented Al Christoffer of
FATTFRO Motorsports. “By pairing up a qualifying driver and fan right
out of the grandstands, both stand to make a little extra money that night if
they win the challenge. I have been hearing a lot about this positive
attitude in the Antigo community and when the opportunity came up to get
involved myself, it was a no-brainer. I love racing and this is what
racing is all about.” FATTFRO Motorsports is also sponsoring the
“Hard Charger” in each of the other competing divisions as well.
On Sept 20th, Antigo Stock Car, Inc voted unanimously to increase the payout
schedule for the Late Model event to $4,000. “We just bumped up the
entire payout schedule and then Alvin Weso of Fire-Up Fireworks bumped it up
to an even $5,000 to win.” stated ASC Inc president Marc Johnson.
“This is on top of what Alvin promises to be a fireworks show that will even
surpass last year’s display.”
In addition to the Late Model incentives, Lund Racing Supplies (Cambridge, MN)
has bumped up the WISSOTA Street Stock purse to $1,100 to win. The
purpose for the increase was simple. Tony Lund knows that there are a
lot of good cars in the western region and hopefully, this will draw some of
them east and set the stage for a good east vs. west showdown in the WISSOTA
Street Stocks. $1,100 to win is certainly some serious incentive to
motivate a team for any kind of showdown.
The 2-Day format will consist of qualifying events on Friday night and semi
features and main events on Saturday with a huge fireworks display put on by
Fire-Up Fireworks. In addition to qualifying on Friday night, many area
businesses have stepped up with fan give-aways for those die-hard fans that
make sure they do not miss a lap. Those fans should be rewarded and will
be for being there on Friday night. For starters, the FATTFRO Challenge
will pull a special “Wild Card” fan qualifier from Friday night’s
participants that will represent the entire back half of the Late Model
A-Main. The Challenge is normally set up to match the “Wild Card” to
the 14th spot, coinciding with the challenge. “This race is special
and we should make this special as well.” commented FATTFRO spokesman
Paul Pittman on the adaptation. In addition, area businesses supplying
special giveaway door prizes include Two-Angels Restaurant (Antigo, WI);
DJ’s Speed Zone (Wausau, WI); Rib Mountain Travel Center (Wausau, WI) and
ASCI which will give away two sets of weekend passes to the 2006 “Summer
Sizzler” Sprint Car event. “A lot of businesses both in town and in
the surrounding areas realize the importance of making a presence at an event
of this nature and how they can showcase their support and the involvement of
their business to those visiting the area,” continued Pittman. “We
are still waiting for a few others to finalize their packages so we are in no
way finished yet.” Other businesses wishing to get involved while time
still remains should call 715-623-3338.
