Fireworks Fly At Langlade County Speedway
by Jennifer Jach

July 1, 2005; Antigo, Wisconsin; The 4th of July weekend started out to be a great one for the Feature Winners in Antigo.  The WISSOTA Late Model Feature even started with some Fireworks!  Terry Anvelink took home top honors in the WISSOTA Late Models, Tom Schaal ended a three year drought with a Feature Win in the IMCA Modifieds.  Dan Michonski took home the win in the IMCA Stock Cars, with Lee Christjohn winning the WISSOTA Street Stock Feature, and JP Remington again winning the Truck Feature.

Cody Grosskreutz grabbed the early lead of the WISSOTA Late Model Feature with Terry Anvelink in a very close second and Tom Naeyaert third.  The caution flag slowed racing early, but on the restart Grosskreutz again grabbed the point, Anvelink second, and McBride third.  Anvelink dug to the inside of Grosskreutz to take over the lead.  The caution again appeared and on this restart Anvelink grabbed the point, McBride second, and Diemel third.  Diemel also used the inside line to get around McBride for the second spot.  The caution flag made one more appearance in this feature, and when racing resumed, it was Anvelink out front, McBride second, and Nick Anvelink third.  The inside line was the place to pass as Nick Anvelink made a move on McBride to take over second.  Nick ran out of time to catch his father for the lead, when the checkers flew it was Terry Anvelink taking the win, Nick Anvelink second, and McBride third.

Jeremie Hedrick grabbed the point of the IMCA Modified Feature with Wade Schutt second and Dave Diemel third.  Mike Wedelstadt moved to the top three with a pass on Diemel.  The caution flag slowed the action, but when it resumed, Hedrick returned to the point, Eric Scribner second, and Diemel third.  Scribner took over the lead when Hedrick slipped high, and Diemel took over second, with Hedrick falling into third.  Schaal had to grab the outside line to get around Hedrick for third.  After another restart, Scribner grabbed the point, Schaal second, and Diemel third.  The cars came around for the white flag lap, and Scribner’s car suddenly slowed off the pace, giving the lead to Schaal, and Brad Rohloff second.  Coming out of four to the checkered, Rohloff gave it all he had to get around Schaal, but Schaal had his sights set on the win.  The win was awarded to Schaal, his first in three years, second to Rohloff, and third to Jeremy Hanson.

Asa Doxtator grabbed the lead of the IMCA Stock Car Feature with Dan Michonski in second and Steve Kastning third.  The caution flag slowed racing action.  When the green fell it was Doxtator to the point, Michonski second, and Kastning third.  Michonski grabbed the inside line and went for the pass on Doxtator, taking over the lead.  Bruce Belland took over third from Kastning.  Michonski went on the claim the win with Doxtator second, and Belland third.

Jermey Wolfe lead the field to the green of the WISSOTA Street Stock Feature, behind him was Lee Christjohn and Dan Wanta.  Wolfe’s lead did not last long, as Christjohn dug to the inside to make the pass, as Wanta followed putting Wolfe to third.  Racing came to a halt with the waving of the yellow, when racing resumed, it was Christjohn to the point, Wolfe second, and Kasperek third.  The race ended only a few laps latter with Christjohn taking the win, Wolfe second, and Kasperek third.

Jon Ripley grabbed the lead of the Truck Feature with Robert Hoffman second, and Harold Ripley third.  After a shuffle on the backstretch it was Ripley still at the point, Harvey second, and Mark Arrowood third.  Arrowood wasted no time moving to the inside of Harvey for second, and JP Remington moved to the third spot, and then the second spot with a pass on Arrowood.  Arrowood then fell back when Jeff Becker took over the third spot.  Victory Lane again welcomed Remington with the win, Ripley second, and Becker third.
