Casey Has Clean Sweep In Antigo
June 3, 2005; Antigo, Wisconsin; With the warm weather and sun finally
shining, the grandstands in Antigo were standing room only. Fans got
their monies worth with two Late Model Features on Friday night. Terry
Casey won both Features, along with his heat to make it a clean sweep.
Brad Rohloff was the winner of the IMCA Modified Feature, with Bruce Belland
taking home the IMCA Stock Car Feature. Lee Christjohn made it two in a
row with a Street Stock Feature, and JP Remington beat out the rest of the
Trucks to take home the Feature win.
Terry Casey jumped to the lead of the WISSOTA Late Model Make-Up Feature from
the second row with Tom Naeyaert second and Justin Richie third. Gordie
Seegert then passed Richie for third as A.J. Diemel passed him for
fourth. The top four pulled away from the rest of the field, and started
to come to lap traffic. Diemel was able to make his was around Seegert
for fourth. When the twenty laps winded down, it was Casey taking the
win, Naeyaert second, and Diemel third.
27 cars went green to checkered in the second WISSOTA Late Model
Feature. Terry Casey once again grabbed the early lead with Nick
Anvelink in a close second and Ron Berna third. Anvelink looked to the
outside of Casey a few times but could not make the pass. With a few
laps in Anvelink was able to take over the lead for a couple of laps but it
was short-lived, as Casey wanted the top spot back. The top four quickly
ran into lapped traffic, which made it a little more difficult to pass for
position. With the Checkers flying it was Casey coming across the line
first, Anvelink second, and Berna third.
Brad Rohloff grabbed the lead of the IMCA Modified Feature with Mike
Wedelstadt in a close second and Mat McDermid third. Wedelstadt moved to
the outside line trying to take over the lead but was unsuccessful. The
top four quickly pulled away from the rest of the field and spread out.
The main battle during the Feature was for sixth, between Jeremy Hanson and
Lance Arneson. Both drivers held onto the position for a few laps, then
ran nose to tail for much of the race. When the checkers flew, it was
Rohloff taking the win, Wedelstadt second, and McDermid third. The Modifieds
were also the double payout class.
The IMCA Stock Car Feature seen Asa Doxtator grab the lead, B.J. Giese second,
and Bruce Belland third. The top two were nose to tail, as well as third
and fourth were nose to tail. When everyone was done shuffling around it
was Giese in the lead, Karcz second, and Belland third. Belland grabbed
the outside line and went around Karcz for second, and then Giese for the top
spot. Karcz also took the outside line around Giese for second.
When all the laps were completed, it was Belland taking home the win, Karcz
second, and Giese third.
The WISSOTA Street Stock Feature seen Mark Schuenemann take the early lead
with Gary Kasperek second and Dan Wanta third. Lee Christjohn quickly
took over the third spot and then looked to the inside of Kasperek, but the
caution flag halted that pass. When the green came out, it was
Christjohn taking the point, Kasperek second, and John Fetzer third.
Jermy Wolfe took the inside line around Fetzer for third. Kasperek took
the inside line around Christjohn for the lead, Christjohn fought back on the
outside and the two ran nose to tail until they came up on some lapped
traffic. The caution flag came out when Kasperek hit the wall after a
battle with a lapped car. On the restart, Christjohn grabbed the lead,
Fetzer second, and Wolfe third. When the laps were completed, it was
Christjohn taking the win, Fetzer in second and Wolfe third.
JP Remington grabbed the lead of the Truck Feature with Jeremy Dake second,
and Harold Harvey third. Mike Bostwick moved to the inside of Harvey for
third but Harvey held on to the outside line and was able to take back his
position. The caution flag came out and on the restart Remington held
onto the lead, Dake second, and Bostwick third. Harvey and Bostwick
would again battle for third, while doing that Jeff Becker went around both of
them to take the position. Bostwick knocked on the door of Becker and
regained the third spot. When the checkers flew it was Remington taking
the win, Dake second, and Bostwick third.
