Feature Winners Springborn And Bostwick Cash In Big In Antigo

May 27, 2005; Antigo, Wisconsin; The closer fans and drivers drove to the track, the more change in weather they seen.  Upon arriving at the track, you were met with rain, winds, and 50 degrees.  The nights racing action started later than normal due to the light rain, but the track looked smooth as could be.  The WISSOTA Late Model Make-Up Feature was not held due to having to start late because of the rain.  The make-up Feature for the Late Models will be held Friday night June 3rd.  The Double Payout Divisions were the WISSOTA Late Models, and the ASCI Trucks.  Both Troy Springborn and Mike Bostwick brought home a nice paycheck.  B.J. Giese took home top honors in the IMCA Stock Car Feature, Lee Christjohn was the top dog in the WISSOTA Street Stocks, and Tom Haferkorn won the IMCA Modified Feature.

Mark Mitchell grabbed the lead of the WISSOTA Late Model Feature with Troy Springborn in a close second.  A caution flag slowed the race.  On the restart, Mitchell grabbed the point, Springborn second, and Tim Buhler third.  Buhler quickly made his way to the inside of Springborn for second. Chris Carlson moved to the inside line to go around Springborn for third.  The caution flag again slowed this race.  When the green flew Mitchell regained the lead, Springborn second and Carlson third.  When lap twenty came around it was Springborn taking the win, Carlson runner up, and Mitchell in third.

The IMCA Modified Feature seen an opening lap caution, but when the green flag fell the second time Jeremie Hedrick grabbed the top spot, Tom Haferkorn second, and Ken Murray third.  The caution flag would not stay put away for long.  On this restart, Haferkorn jumped to the lead, Hedrick second and Murray third.  Again the caution flag flew and by this time, the time was winding down.  This time Haferkorn jumped to the lead, Hedrick second, and Murray third.  The final caution flag would come out with only a handful of laps completed, with the checkered flag as the time limit expired.  Crossing the line first was Haferkorn, second too Murray and third to Jim Hanson.

The IMCA Stock Car Feature seen B.J. Giese grab the lead with Larry Karcz in a close second and Bruce Belland third.  Karcz was not happy with second and went to the outside of Giese, both Karcz and Giese ran side by side for a handful of laps.  The race was then red flagged for a car that hit the wall out of turn three and burst into flames.  The driver was uninjured.  The race was red flagged in order to give the track workers time to fix the tipped over cement block.  The workers worked as fast as they could, but could not get it repaired before the curfew time rolled around.  The win was given to Giese, second to Karcz, and third to Belland.

The WISSOTA Street Stock Feature seen Eugene Shawano Jr. grab the lead with Lee Christjohn second, and Gary Kasperek third.  Christjohn dug to the inside of Shawano for the top position as Kasperek followed taking over second.  The caution flag would appear and on the restart, Christjohn kept his lead, Kasperek second and Shawano third.  Jeremy Wolfe looked to the inside and then the outside of Shawano to take over third.  Coming across the finish line in first was Christjohn, second went to Kasperek, and third to Wolfe.

Jeff Becker grabbed the lead of the Truck feature from his front row starting spot, second was Harold Harvey and third Mark Arrowood.  Mike Bostwick grabbed the outside line around Arrowood for third.  The ever popular caution flag appeared and on the restart, Becker regained his lead, Bostwick jumped to second and Travis Widder third.  Bostwick found the inside line to be fastest, and went around Becker for the lead.  JP Remington found the outside line to be fastest and took over the third spot.  The checkered flew with Bostwick taking the win, Becker second, and Remington third.

The weekly race program includes WISSOTA Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, WISSOTA Street Stocks, and ASCI Trucks.  Racing continues weekly until September 2, 2004 with a break on June 10th for the Off-Road Races.
