by Jennifer Jach

October 9, 2004: Antigo, Wisconsin:  Fans battled the cold weather and lack of Hot Chocolate at the running of the Second Annual Indian Summer Classic on Saturday night.  Coming home the WISSOTA Late Model Winner was Tim Buhler, The Modified Feature went to Wade Schutt, and Jeremy Christians cashed in for the Stock Car Feature.  Lee Christjohn took home the winnings in the WISSOTA Street Stocks and Mark Arrowood took home the win in the Trucks.

The WISSOTA Late Model Feature seen Rick Hanestad grad the lead, Tom Hassman second, and M.J. McBride third.  McBride moved to the outside of Hassman for second as the caution flag would fly.  On the restart Hanestad regained his lead, McBride second, and Hassman third.  Tim Buhler moved into the third spot and then the second spot with an inside pass.  The caution flag would again fly and on the restart McBride jumped to the lead, Buhler second and Hanestad third.  Buhler made his way to the lead with an inside pass on McBride and Ron Berna moved into the top three when Hanestad would get a flat tire.    Berna would then move to the outside of McBride for third.  When the 30 laps were complete it was Buhler taking the win, Berna in second and McBride third.

The Modified Feature seen Scott Mullen grab the early lead, Brian Mullen second, and Wade Schutt third.  Brian Mullen and Schutt both went around Scott Mullen as the caution flag would fly.  On the restart Brian Mullen grabbed the lead, Schutt second, and Scott Mullen third.  Schutt took over the lead with and inside pass on Mullen, as Eric Scribner made an outside pass on Charlie Wild for fourth.  The caution flag would again appear and on this restart, Schutt took the point, Brian Mullen second, and Scott Mullen third.  The race would end just in time for Schutt, crossing the finish line and having the rear end break, Brian Mullen would be second, and Scott Mullen third.

Jeremy Christians grabbed the lead of the IMCA Stock Car Feature with Rod Snellenberger second and Shawn Wagner third.  Shannon Volkman grabbed third with a pass on Wagner.  Volkman then took over second, as Larry Karcz took over fourth.  The caution flag would fly and on the restart, Christians took the lead, Volkman second, and Snellenberger third.  The caution flag then came out again with Christians in the lead, Snellenberger second, and Karcz third.  The caution flag flew again as the time limit would expire in this one.  Taking the checkers first was Christians, second to Volkman and third to Karcz.

The Street Stock Feature seen Lee Christians jump to the lead, but his lead would not last long as a caution flag would fly.  On the second restart, Christjohn grabbed the lead, Wayne Krause second, and Bill Froehlich third.  The leaders would run nose to tail for a few laps and eventually go three wide, with the outcome being the same, Christian in the lead, Krause second, and Froehlich third.  Froehlich would take the lead for a short period of time but Christjohn would fight back to regain his lead.  The caution once again flew and when the green dropped it was Froehlich in the lead, Christjohn second and Dean third.  Christjohn took the inside line around Froehlich to take the lead.  When the checkers flew it was Christjohn taking the win, Travis Krause second and Wayne Dean third.

The Truck Feature seen Eric Ney take the lead, Travis Widder second, and Mark Arrowood third.  Sean Thayer took the outside line around Arrowood for third.  The caution flag flew and on the restart, Ney took the lead, Jeremy Dake second and J.P. Remington in third.  The caution flag came out again and this time Arrowood took the lead, Ney second, and Mike Devener third,  Thayer took the inside line around Devener for third and then went to the outside of Ney for second.  The caution flag made another appearance, this time Arrowood took the lead, Mike Bostwick second, and Devener third.  Dake took the inside line around Devener for third, and the feature would be completed when time expired and the next caution flag flew.  Taking home the win was Arrowood, Bostwick second and Dake third.
