Gene Shawano Jr. Wins WISSOTA Street Stock Feature Event

August 27, 2004; Antigo, Wisconsin; A cool night greeted fans at the Langlade County Speedway on Friday night. The nightly sponsor was Oneida Sales/Budweiser. Terry Casey ran away with the WISSOTA Late Model Feature while Wade Schutt won the IMCA Modified Feature. Jeremy Christians won the IMCA Stock Car Main Event. Gene Shawano was the winner of the WISSOTA Street Stock Feature and J.P. Remington won the Truck Feature. Next Friday night is the Points Championship night, and out last night of regular racing. The Indian Summer Classic will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2004. More details will be available soon.

The WISSOTA Late Model Feature seen Jerry Weigel jump to the lead, Terry Casey second and Todd Flannery third. The caution flag was shown and on the restart, Weigel again jumped to the lead, Flannery second, and Gordie Seegert third. The caution flag again was thrown and on this restart, Casey took over the lead, Weigel second and Seegert third. Seegert jumped into the second spot when Weigel spun by himself. Pete Parker would move to the third spot with Terry Anvelink fourth. When the laps expired, it was Casey taking the win, Seegert second, and Parker third.

The IMCA Modified Feature seen a caution flag before a lap was even completed. On the restart, John Peters jumped into the lead, Jerry Marvin second and Jim Hanson third. Hanson wasted no time taking over the runner-up spot with a pass on Marvin. Wade Schutt moved past Marvin and then Hanson to take over the runner-up position. The caution flag would fly again and on this restart, Schutt took the point, Peters second, and Julie McDermid third. The caution flag flew again and on this restart, Peters took the point, Schutt second, and McDermid third. Schutt moved to the inside of Peters and took over the lead, and McDermid would follow, putting Peters in third. 

The caution flag flew for the fourth time and on this restart Schutt took the point, McDermid second, and Peters third. The race would end under the next caution because the time limit had expired. The win went to Schutt, McDermid second and Peters in third.

Shannon Volkman jumped to the early lead of the IMCA Stock Car Feature with Leslie Slater is a close second and Jeremy Christians third. Christians wasted no time moving into the second spot with an outside pass on Slater. Dan Michonski followed, and Slater moved into the fourth spot. Randy Rassmusen joined in the chase for the lead with an inside pass on Slater, but that would not last long as Larry Karcz would pass Slater and then Rassmusen to take over fourth. Christians took the inside line around Volkman for the lead, but Volkman was able to hold on the outside for the next two laps. Christians would inch ahead in turn 1 and Volkman would have problems, and have to go to the pits. When the checkers flew, it was Christians taking the win, Michonski second and Karcz in third.

Keith Raab grabbed the early lead of the WISSOTA Street Stock Feature with Gene Shawano second and Scott VanProoyen third. Shawano took the outside line around Raab for the lead. The caution flag flew and on the restart Shawano took the point, VanProoyen second and Raab third. Raab took the inside line around VanProoyen for the second spot as Lee Christjohn took over third with a pass on Wolfe and then VanProoyen. When the race was concluded it was Shawano taking the win, Raab second, and Christjohn third.

Mike Devener jumped to the early lead of the Truck Feature, close behind were Jon Ripley and Harold Harvey. Ripley choose the high line to move past Devener for the lead, as J.P. Remington took over the third spot with a pass on Harvey. Mark Arrowood then took fourth from Harvey, and then third from Remington, and eventually went to the outside of Devener for the second spot. Remington then put Devener back to the fourth spot with an inside pass. Sean Thayer made his way into the top four with a pass on Devener, as Arrowood took over the lead from Ripley. Arrowood would loose control and start to spin, loosing many positions. The caution flag would fly a few laps later. On the restart, Remington jumped to the lead, Thayer second, and Chad Fleischman third. The caution flag would fly a few more times before the time limit on this race would also expire. The race winner was Remington, with Fleischman second and Thayer third.

Racing will resume next Friday night. Racing begins at 7:15. The regular show includes, WISSOTA Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, WISSOTA Street Stocks, and the ASCI Trucks.
