Naeyaert, Christjohn, And Remington All New Winners In Antigo
By Jennifer Jach

August 13, 2004; Antigo, Wisconsin; A cool night greeted fans at the Langlade County Fairgrounds in Antigo on Friday night.  The nightly sponsor was Co-Advantage Credit Union of Antigo.  It was also the Dale Quirk memorial race.  Dale was a worker at the track for the past 11 years as was killed last year in a car accident.  A plaque was presented to his sons for all the hard work he put into the track.  Also a dollar of every admission ticket was put towards a scholarship in Dale’s name.

Tom Naeyaert jumped to the lead of the WISSOTA Late Model Feature with Terry Anvelink in a close second and M.J. McBride in third.  Luke Roffers took the inside line around McBride to take over the third spot.  The caution flag flew and on the restart, Naeyaert jumped back to the point, Anvelink second, and Roffers third.  Duane Mahder took the inside line around Roffers for the third spot, as Tim Buhler would follow, putting Roffers to fifth.  The rest of the race would be run under green flag and when the checkers flew it was Naeyaert taking the win, Anvelink second, and Mahder third.

The Modified Feature started with a caution flag.  When the green was finally waved it was John Peters taking the point, Scott Williams second, and Joe Haferkorn third.  Williams took the outside line around Peters for the lead.  Haferkorn looked to the inside of Peters to take over second, and Eric Scribner would follow, putting Peters back to fourth.  The caution flag flew and on the restart, Scribner would jumped to the lead, Williams second and Haferkorn third.  Mike Wedelstadt made his way into the top three with a pass on Haferkorn.  Wedelstadt then looked to the inside of Williams for second, and Wade Schutt would make his way into the picture with a pass on Haferkorn and then Williams.

The caution flag waved a third time and on this restart, Scribner jumped to the point Wedelstadt second and Schutt third.  Schutt made the move to the inside of Wedelstadt for the second spot, but Wedelstadt would fight back on the outside, passing both Schutt and Scribner to take over the lead.  Schutt would then choose the outside line and went around Scribner for the runner-up spot, and would try to get to the outside of Wedelstadt, but Wedelstadt would be able to hold his lead.  When the checkers flew it was Wedelstadt taking the win, Schutt second, and Scribner third.

In the IMCA Stock Car Feature, Brett Wenzel took the early lead with Larry Karcz second and Mike Brott third.  Karcz tried the outside of Wenzel but would loose a spot to Brott when he got a little too high. The caution flag made an appearance and on the restart, Jeremy Christians jumped to the point, Karcz second and Brott third.  Shannon Volkman worked his way around Brott to take over the third spot.  When the white flag was waved, Karcz gave it his all and whet to the inside of Christians for the lead, Christians would be too strong on the outside and would take the checkered first, Karcz in a close second and Volkman third.

Lee Christjohn jumped to the lead of the WISSOTA Street Stock Feature with Chad Wield second and Mark Schuenemann third.  The front cars would mix it up on the backstretch and when they came around to the start finish line it was Christjohn, Schuenemann, and Gary Kasperek third.  Kasperek then looked to the inside of Schuenemann for second and Scott VanProoyen would follow, taking over third.  The caution flag flew and on the restart, Christjohn took the point, VanProoyen second and Schuenemann third.  Junior Howard made his way into the mix-up with a pass on Schuenemann, as the caution would fly again.

This restart seen Christjohn taking the point, VanProoyen second and Howard third.  Jeremy Wolfe took the outside line around Howard for the third spot and then took over the second spot with an outside pass on VanProoyen.  The caution would once again show, the green flag waved and Christjohn remained in the lead, Howard second, and Kasperek third.  When the checkers came out, it was Christjohn taking the win, Howard second, and Kasperek third.

In the Truck Feature, Mike Devener grabbed the early lead with Robert Hoffman second, and Leif Gunderson third.  Gunderson and Jon Ripley took the outside line around Hoffman to take over second and third.  J.P. Remington took the high line around Hoffman, Ripley, and then Gunderson to take over the runner up spot.  Remington was not satisfied and went to the inside of Devener for the lead.  Mark Arrowood jumped into the top five with a few passes all in the same lap.  He would eventually take over the second spot and start to chase down Remington.  Arrowood would run out of time and Remington would take the checkered flag, Arrowood runner-up and Devener with his best finish of the season in third.
