Giese And Dake Win First Ever Feature Events In Antigo
By Jennifer Jach
July 16, 2004; Antigo, Wisconsin; The night was perfect for racing at the
Langlade County Speedway on Friday night. Some showers on and off during
the day did not stop the fans or the cars from pilling into the
speedway. The WISSOTA Late Model Feature seen Todd Flannery take the
checkers first with Wade Schutt winning another IMCA Modified Feature
Event. B.J. Giese won his first ever IMCA Stock Car Feature Event, as
did Jeremy Dake in the Truck Division. Bruce Belland would be victorious
in the WISSOTA Street Stocks.
The WISSOTA Late Model Feature seen Tim Buhler take the point, Mark Mitchell
second and Todd Flannery third. Flannery took the inside line around Mitchell
for the second spot, as would Terry Anvelink as the caution flag would
fly. When the green flag was shown, it was Buhler taking the point,
Flannery second and Gordie Seegert in third. Seegert worked his way
around Flannery on the high side to take over second, and then looked to the
inside of Buhler for the lead. The caution flag would once again fly and
on the restart, Buhler took the point, Seegert second, and Flannery
third. Flannery was able to take the outside line around Seegert for
second and then took the outside line around Buhler for the lead. The
checkers would fly for Flannery with Seegert in a close second and Buhler
third.
In the IMCA Modified Feature, Wade Schutt took the point followed by Jeremie
Hedrick and Eric Scribner. The caution flag would fly and on the restart
Schutt took the point, Hedrick second, and Scribner third. The green
would not last long as we would go yellow again. On this restart, Schutt
took the point, Hedrick second, and Scribner third. The race would end
when the time limit expired. Schutt took the checkered flag with Hedrick
second and Scribner third.
The Stock Car Feature seen Tory Jerovtz take the green with Steve Kastning
second and B.J. Giese third. Giese took the outside line around Kastning
as did Dan Michonski to take over second and third. Giese made his
move to the inside of Jerovtz to take over the lead. Jeremy Christians
took over the second spot with a pass on Michonski. Christians looked to
the inside of Giese a few times but was never able to make the pass.
Christians would be glued to the back bumper of Giese across the finish line,
as Giese would win his first feature event, Christians second, and Michonski
third.
The WISSOTA Street Stock Feature seen Scott VanProoyen take the point, Dan
Wanta second and Eugene Shawano Jr. third. Shawano took the outside line
around Wanta for the second spot, as Bruce Belland would do the same.
Belland would take the inside line, and Shawano would take the outside line to
make a sandwich around VanProoyen. Belland would come out the leader,
Shawano second and VanProoyen third. Wolfe took the outside line around
Shawano with one lap to go. The checkers flew and Belland would take the
win, Shawano second, and Wolfe third.
The ASCI Trucks seen Jeremy Dake jump to the lead with Forest Crandall second
and Travis Widder third. The caution flag would fly right off the bat
and on the restart Dake would take the point, Widder second and Crandall
third. Mark Arrowood took the inside line around Crandall for the third
spot as the caution would fly again. On this restart, Dake took the
point, Crandall second and Widder third. Widder was able to take the inside
line around Crandall as wood Arrowood to take over second and third. The
caution flag would once again be shown and on the restart Dake would take the
point, Arrowood second and Widder third. With only a lap left to go,
Arrowood took the inside line around Dake, but Dake would hold on for the
win. This would be Dake’s first ever Feature Win, Arrowood coming in
second and Widder third.
