Van Oudenhoven Overall Winner Of 34th Annual Red, White & Blue Series
 
KAUKAUNA, WI -- Jeff Van Oudenhoven of Kimberly was the overall winner of the 34th annual Red, White & Blue State Championship Series Saturday night at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna.
 
The two-time Midwest AllStar Racing Series (MARS) champion led the 48-car late model field in qualifying with a time of 19.547 around the D-shaped paved half-mile track.
 
Winners of the individual 50-lap features were Tim Rothe of Appleton, Steve Carlson of West Salem, and rookie Nate Van Wychen of Kaukauna.
 
Jeremy Miller of Rockton, IL won the 30-Lap Mid-American Stock Car Series feature while Jerry Van Handel of Waupaca scored the win in the 25-lap limited late model feature.
 
The next race for the Midwest AllStar Racing Series late models is Sunday, Aug. 28 at the Milwaukee Mile while the next event for the Mid-American Stock Car Series is Saturday, Aug. 27 at the Milwaukee Mile.
 
Van Oudenhoven totaled 120 points for the three 50-lap features run Saturday while Jamie Iverson of Escanaba, MI was second with 114.  Carlson has 112 points overall while Mike Gardner of Gladstone, MI was next with 111.  Gregg Haese of Two Rivers totaled 108 and 11-time track champion Terry Baldry was sixth with 103.
 
The biggest crash of the night in the late model division occurred when Frank Kreyer blasted the turn one wall in practice, destroying his car.  He was not injured.
 
The limited late model main event was marred by several major wrecks.  Kyle Bauknecht's car was forced into the turn four wall by another car on a restart and he hit the barrier head on.  He was treated and released by the trackside medical staff.   Another crash later in the limited late model race involved six cars.
