OBC 300 Welcomes Busch Series Driver And Wisconsin Favorite Tim Sauter
(KAUKAUNA, WI) – Oneida Bingo & Casino is pleased to announce the
appearance of Veteran driver and Wisconsin native Tim Sauter in the Oneida
Bingo & Casino 300 on Aug. 5 at Wisconsin International Raceway (WIR).
Tim is the only Busch Series driver competing in this race, which is part of
the 2003 NASCAR Elite Division, International Truck and Engine Corporation
Midwest Series.
“Wisconsin International Raceway is a good, fast, short track,” said
Sauter. “Our program is conducive to running well on tracks like this.”
It’s one of the reasons he looks forward to racing in the Oneida Bingo &
Casino 300 on Aug. 5.
Tim Sauter and his No. 19 AP Performance Racing Team are currently competing
in the prestigious NASCAR Busch Series circuit. Tim travels from coast to
coast while competing against some of the best drivers in the country.
Although he is without a full-time sponsor this year, he hopes to be back
racing every weekend someday soon. In the meantime, he’s taking the
opportunity to fit this race in his native Wisconsin between two Busch Series
races: the Aug. 2 race at Indianapolis Raceway Park and the Michigan
International Speedway.
Wisconsin is a hotbed of some of the biggest racing stars in the country. The
Sauter family is working its way up to the level of the Pettys, Earnhardts,
and Allisons as successful racing families. Tim Sauter is the second oldest of
eleven children, and one of three racing in NASCAR circuits. Tim’s father,
Jim, also races.
In the early 90’s Tim became an accomplished short track racer in the tough
Wisconsin leagues. He advanced to the big leagues when he took to the track in
ASA competition for the first time at Anderson (IN) Speedway in 1995.
Tim was the third Sauter to make it to ASA, further enforcing the fact that
the Sauters were one of the greatest racing families of all time.
The highlight of Tim's racing career came in 1999. That season saw Tim
collected three wins, 15 top-five finishes and the 1999 ASA National
Championship. "Being a Sauter, there is a sense that you are expected to
win," said Tim. "But with that comes desire. Being a
Sauter and being raised around racing, having brothers who all raced, it was
all about desire and I took the most from it that I could. I have always
been a hands-on guy, so being successful made me even more proud. When I
won the championship, I won it for all of the Sauter family.
“The best thing dad taught me was just how to work," recalls Tim,
"and not to take anything for granted. We worked hard. We had
our fun; I mean, we had our dirt bikes and stuff, but he taught us how to
work. He taught us how to communicate with people; he told us to be
honest and truthful with people and not burn bridges. It was always about good
values."
Work hard and you’ll go far… the moral of the Sauter Story!
Determined to achieve his goals, Tim will do his best to win the Oneida Bingo
& Casino 300 Tuesday night at WIR.
Everyone is welcome to experience the racing excitement at WIR on Tuesday Aug.
