Midseason Finished Plus Full Race Program and Kids Night At Jefferson Speedway
by Larry & Jeanne Starr
July 2, Jefferson WI -- In the Hobby Stock "Midseason Championship"
25 lapper, postponed last week due to rain, Scott Carson claimed top
honors. Starting inside row 2, Carson drove to the front on the first
circuit and never looked back guiding the field all the way to the
checkers. As Carson led the way, Jim Tate drove from 8th to 2nd,
followed trough the field by Dennis Schmidt. At the stripe it was Carson
for the win, followed by Tate, Schmidt, Jesse Ayers and Pete Elgas.
In the Bandit division "Midseason championship," 23 lap main event,
Shaun Scheel of Johnson Creek claimed top honors. Starting 7th, Scheel
headed toward the point as Chris Hart drove to the early lead. Scheel
caught Hart on lap 5, making the winning pass on the 9th circuit. At the
stripe it was Scheel for the win, followed by Hart, Tom Bleecker, Kyle Stark
and John Remsik.
With Midseason Championships complete the program moved on to the, regularly
scheduled racing program.
Tim Noble of Janesville notched the win in the "Kearns Motor Car
Company" 50 lap Late Model feature. Starting inside row 4, Noble
headed for the point as Dennis Schmidt jumped to the early lead. Schmidt
led the way for 9 laps as Noble worked his way toward the front. Moving
to the inside of Schmidt, on lap 13, Noble claimed the lead on lap 14.
Jason Erickson motored past John Ovadal and Schmidt, on laps 31 and 32, making
his way to 2nd, with Noble far ahead. Noble's advantage vaporized when a
spinning car brought out a caution, on lap 36, closing the field for the
restart. On the restart Noble held the point with Erickson working the
inside. Erickson kept the pressure high, but Noble was up to the
challenge. At the finish it was Noble, followed by Erickson, Schmidt,
Roger Behlke and Jasper Gronert.
In Sportsman action Trent Erdman of Fort Atkinson stretched his point lead,
with a win in the 30 lap feature. Starting outside row 4, Erdman began
his journey to the checkers, as Brent Gergen grabbed the early lead.
Making his way to 2nd, on lap 11, Erdman closed with Gergen. Pulling to
the inside Erdman inched ahead, claiming the top spot on lap 18. As they
flew past the checkered flag it was Erdman for the win, followed by Gergen,
Mike Heelein, Jason Thoma and Josh Courtney.
In International action Chris Nelson of Cottage Grove was awarded the win, in
the 20 lap main event. Starting 7th, Nelson headed for the front as Joe
Cross jumped to the early lead. Scotty Hoeft closed with Cross on lap 5,
pulling ahead on lap 6. Hoeft was first at the stripe, followed by
Nelson, Mark English, Chris Chenoweth and Cross. Hoeft was penalized a
position for rough driving, awarding the win to Nelson.
In Hobby Stock action Eaan Carson claimed victory in the 20 lap feature.
Starting at the back of the field Carson started his long drive to the front,
as Lincoln Keeser claimed the early lead. Keeser surrendered the point
to Bret Carson, on lap 5, with Eaan Carson up to the 3rd spot.
Eaan Carson moved under Keeser on lap 8, claiming 2nd on lap 9 and looking
ahead to Bret Carson. Eaan motored past Bret on lap 5, leading the final
5 circuits. At the finish it was Eaan Carson for the win followed by
Keeser, Dennis Schmidt, Bret Carson and Pete Elgas.

event. Starting 3rd Hart watched Darren Brown pull to the early
lead. Hart was in the 2nd spot by lap 8, moving to the inside of Brown
to claim the lead. At the finish it was Hart for the win, followed by
John Remsik, Kyle Start, Troy Yohn and Brandon Riedner.
It was kid's night, with Stock Car Rides after Qualifying, Big Wheel races
during intermission, and the Independence Day Fireworks Spectacular by
Thundercat. The smiles of the kids lit up the evening at Jefferson
Speedway.
