Antigo's Summer Sizzler Continues To Build Momentum
The Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series is set to invade the Langlade
County Fairgrounds on August 4th and 5th in what will be one of the biggest
shows of the 2006 season for the series, “The Summer Sizzler”! The
series will compete in two complete shows over the weekend at the Antigo
facility, testing the limits of speed and equipment where a driver could walk
away with nearly $13,000 by the time the dust settles on Saturday night.
Friday night (Aug 4), the weekend gets underway with a regular show for the
IRA Outlaws, paying a guaranteed $2200 to win plus available bonuses courtesy
of Verne’s Kawasaki/Suzuki/Honda/Artic Cat and Gleason Equipment.
Verne’s will be posting a $1,000 bonus for any driver that can win their
heat race and then follow that up with a feature win. In addition, if
that winner also has the night’s quickest time in the Osborn & Son
Trucking Time Trials, they will receive an additional $500 bonus, brining the
bonus up to $1,500 on top of the guaranteed payout. Also, Gleason Race
Equipment will award the DMI Hard Charger a brand new Hoosier Right Rear
tire. Joining the Outlaw Sprinters on the card on Friday night will be
the IMCA Sport-Mods in a double paying show for the fledgling division.
On Saturday (Aug 5), things will get underway a bit early with a car
show/autograph session free and open to the public, scheduled behind the
grandstands from 2 pm to 4pm. This will give fans the opportunity
to visit with many of the visiting teams between shows and collect team
memorabilia for the big show scheduled for later that evening. That
event, “The Summer Sizzler” will pay the winner a guaranteed $3000 plus
bonuses including a revisitation by Verne’s and Gleason Race Equipment
similar to Friday night’s show. Add to that a $5,000 bonus available
to Friday Night’s winner if they can win both nights. Both the winner
and second place finishers will be guaranteed starters in Saturday night’s
main event, however must qualify in to determine their starting
position. Add to the already mentioned bonuses, additional payout
courtesy of Two Angels Family Restaurant and Contract Furnishings and product
sponsorship from Velocity Wings and Pepsi Distributors of Antigo, there are
plenty of rewards to go around for the entire field of
competitors. Also on Saturday night’s card is the annual and
very popular Race Truck vs. Street Stock “Showdown” which matches up the
tracks pickup truck division in head to head racing action as a single
division with the winner retaining bragging rights until next year’s
event. Both divisions have been very strong in weekly competition at the
Langlade County Fairgrounds.
Ticket prices for the two day show, courtesy of the Forest County Potawatomi
Community and the Fire-Up Smoke Shop will be as follows: Friday night -
$15 for Adults, $10 for students and seniors and $5 for kids 6-12 years of
age. Saturday night tickets for adults are $20 while students, seniors
and kids remain as they were on Friday night. A two-day pass will be
sold on Friday night for Adults only for only $30. Pit passes will be
$25 both nights (sorry, no children or alcohol in the pit area) and can be
purchased at the back pit gate. Rough camping is available on the
fairgrounds property for free over the weekend. Time trial both nights
for the sprint cars will begin at approximately 6:30pm each night.
