Hepfner IRA Powercom Winner, Again

7/15 Beaver Dam, WI    Todd Hepfner captured his second Bumper to Bumper / United Trailers IRA Outlaw Sprints feature of the year by winning the third and final round of The Raceway @ Powercom Park's Duel At The Dam series. Hepfner also captured the opening round back in May. Hepfner piloting the Hepfner Race Products/American Racer/Gaerte/Eagle powered  from his fifth starting spot to the front by lap six, holding a comfortable margin until IRA point leader Mike Reinke made an exciting charge at the very end as he pulled under the eventual winner on the final corner but couldn't quite complete the pass with Hepfner winning by just a car length at the flag.

While Hepfner looked strong the entire race, the action behind him was fast and furious on a Powercom track that was wet, heavy, and physically demanding all night long. You definitely had to have your elbows up. Amazing considering the blistering heat. Front row mates Scotty Neitzel, Scott Biertzer, with Billy Balog, a charging Reinke from 13th gave chase early on. Balog would do a solo flip on lap eight as did Raymond Hensley on the restart, Hensley's much nastier however.

Reinke methodically worked his way through traffic despite a nose wing which showed severe damage from earlier contact. Reinke would slip past Neitzel for second following a several lap battle. Meanwhile Tommy Sexton worked his way towards the front as he charged to a fourth place finish from his 16th starting position, as he stormed around Biertzer at the end. Scott Young, Bill Warren, Donny Goeden, Troy Hepfner, and KJ Skelton completed the top ten.

Travis Whitney set fast time over the 38 car field earning the Osborn & Son Trucking fast time cash, and picking up points towards the season ending TW Metals and Stevie B' Landscaping qualifying bonus dough.

Heat wins went to Joe Symoens, Mike Stefka, Skelton, and Warren. Reinke and Brian Kristan each scored B-main wins.

IRA was proud to have over 100 guests courtesy of its' title sponsor Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts in attendance.
